Really, I would like to feel I'm leading people, not just being "the hero" and primal killer

I don't think Middy had the ability to take the Echo from us to start with, only to seal the blessing of light per "The Convent" (what ever it was).

I agree. I get the sense that he couldn't take the Echo as well.

The WoL's Protagonist Archtype is "Silent Hero" guys.

He/She is the blank sleight that we cast our own personalties too.

I myself tend to project my own ideals and thoughts on to my Avatar and by extension feel the outrage, not, sorrow, and confusion that the (ironically vauge) facial expressions display.

IMO FF14 has done an extremely good job potraying the Silent Hero Archtype.

Totally on the theoretical here, but I'd be curious as to if our WoL's Echo, in the future, would be strong enough to shield or encapsulate another person's mind-soul space in order to protect them when fighting a Primal.

Alternatively, with an Echo user inside someone's mind-soul space, would the person they're inside (not necessarily in a possession way, but like how the WoL enters Thancred's to force Laha out in Prae) be immune to tempering as well?

It seems to me like a skilled Echo user could be very, very, very powerful indeed. We need to get on studying.

You also have to give him credit on one thing: Unlike Mifilia, he’s a competent fighter, and during the vast majority of the MSQ duty fights in HW, he fights right alongside you. He’s also outright stated that if only he possessed the Echo himself, he’d be right there fighting the primals alongside you
No thanks. I've seen him fight... I'd rather have someone like Y'shtola by my side. At least she doesn't let me die(it's a good thing I was co leveling bard and white mage during 3.0 msq else I'd be cursing him 'till end of days).

But yeah he went from annoying to someone I don't mind having around. It's nice that they are actually evolving the characters.

But silent hero is the game of the day. I don't mind it at all though sometimes I just want to slap some NPCs...

We need to beat the answers out if Elidibus if we want any because he's the only one who knows the Echo's true limits and isn't intending to share willingly.

And he won't spill anything unless we either see things his way or stop getting in his way long enough to hear what he wants to do. As far as I see it, he and Ascians in general are like Black Doom from Shadow the Hedgehog; claiming to be helping, even though their actions are clearly beneficial to them only.

I think that the Echo is somehow similar as how is the force on starwars, there is a lightside and darkside. I think here is pretty much the same. I dont think the Ascians know how to master the echo more than orthers, or even if they do they arent using it on a way is being supposed to be used

I'm not sure if I agree with that. To me the Echo seems entirely neutral; there isn't a way it's "supposed" to be used, because people manifest its skills differently. Even our character goes into people's heads and their memories without others knowing. Do you really think you were intended to see, for example, some of Cid's most precious memories? That's definitely portrayed as not being okay, but a necessity or an accident.

(I'm actually more curious why your first Echo-vision in ARR with Hydaelyn has Lahabrea interfering, as how would Lahabrea have known about you at that point? And why would Lahabrea care about some random Echo user when there are quite a few out there?).
