    DRK Hard Slash animation

Hard Slash's animation is absolutely terrible for the most often used skill. It looks like my character was trying to stab the opponent but for some reason his muscles gave up and the sword nearly falls to the ground. Seriously I cant watch this thing anymore, it has to be the most ridiculous looking thing in the game. Its no fun seeing your character try to wield a sword like he has never had one in his hands before.

Just swap Hard Slash and Scourge animations, this one actually looks good. There is no way I'm the only one from whom this issue is nearly class-breaking.

Boohoo! The Heavy Swing animation is boring too. So is Fast Blade. They're abilities that begin combos; why should they be exciting?...

If you think basic abilities being boring constitutes "class-breaking", you're just not smart and need find the proper definition of class-breaking.

The OP's point wasn't about looking "boring" it's about looking ugly and giving the impression that your character doesn't know how to use a sword. It's a whole other level and I agree that it's bothering me too. The first stab movement should go straight into the opponent and stay as it is before the upward slash instead of doing that shitty animation that we have. Would be very similar but it wouldn't look like a failed move.

My character looking like he doesnt know how to use or even hold a sword during the most used ability is just as debilitating for me as if he was unplayable because of broken mechanics. If that makes me an idiot then so be it. And while Heavy Swing and Fast Blade are simple they dont make your char look like a junkie on high.

Eh. I don't have a problem with it. Its a diagonal slash followed by an upward one. It looks like it would hurt.

If you actually watch the animation, your character slashes from side to side and then does an upwards, backwards slash, which if we're talking realism here and your character's ability to actually wield a sword, the actual motion is pretty fast, its the recovery that is kinda slow, but honestly, the job meant to feel like the sword is big and heavy and has power behind it, not to mention such a motion would probably slit someone from groin to brow. Personally I think animations like Delirium and Souleater feel like your character is pretty superhuman being able to move like that (to say nothing of Carve... =E ...), whereas Hard Slash is, appropriately, a ramp-up. Also, there's no stabbing involved. The only attacks that have stabbing animations are Reprisal and Souleater.

Anyway, DRK has such an abundance of off-GCD weaving that I very rarely get to see the full animation of any of the GCDs. Neither should anyone else that's playing the job right.

And yeah, have you SEEN the animation for Fast Blade and Heavy Swing? It looks like your character just picked up the weapon at the local blacksmith and is playing with it.

Honestly. . . that is exactly how I started playing Marauder at launch. I bought an axe, took it to a level one zone and said "IMA SWING IT!"

Hard slash looks like you are more of throwing yourself into the initial attack to hit harder and then doing a heavy upwards swing from hmm... maybe thats why its called hard slash?

    Let me get this straight.
A horizontal slash followed by an upward vertical slash, using momentum and the weight of the sword looks like you just picked up a sword and have no idea how to use it?

Look at the way most of the greatswords are shaped, it's not a failed stab, it's a slash. Given DRKs initial stance, it's a sensible first move for a quick hit, followed by a heavier one.
Using the tip end of a blade to slash with a heavy sword, though not practical, is possible and works. The only reason I don't care about it not being practical is because this is a video game, where half if not more of the animations don't make any logical sense. (Looking at you, Wide Volley)
The animation is fine. Wanna complain about something? Go complain about how heavy swing looks like a kid swinging a toy around when you're actually swinging a heavy axe.
Also I understand this is your opininon and that's fine. But the claim of not knowing how to use the sword seems to be coming from someone who doesn't know how to use one themself.
Edit: Also...Yeah. You're dropping the sword at the end there. Why? Greatswords are uh...they're pretty heavy. Especially after a swing like that. You see it in the recovery time.
Edit 2: Now that I've actually taken the time to look at it, it could also look like you're attempting to pierce the opponent while using the full leverage of the long blade to knock their guard to the side, then follow up with the upward slash. Again, risky move given the weight of the weapon because at the end there, you can see that it has weight to it after the slash, before he returns to his original stance.
