    fine sand no longer sold at npc after 1.19

    Here is a thoughtful analysis of the problem: It takes 6-24 shards + 6 fish to make 6 river sands using CUL. (Some synths require 1- 4 wind shards per river sand)
    Then you need a goldsmith to turn the 6 sands into a fine sand, requiring additional crystals.

    So to make 1 single fine sand, you need 7 synths: 10-28 shards + 6 fish + 10 minutes of time to do all the prerequisite synthing.

    Then the fine sand will only produce 16 shards, potentially yielding a net profit of 0 or negative shards. Again, all to produce 1 single fine sand, of which, we need 63 to make a stack of shards. You will be lucky to even break even on this process after the crystal is broken down. You can decide if you think this makes sense.


    It seems like all of these changes were not thought out fully. Given how large the list of changes is, this is not at all a surprise. But I suppose we will have to live with it - perhaps things will change in a few months when the next patch comes out. Hopefully you will have a large enough stockpile of fine sand to hold out.
