Another thread about inventory space [suggestion]

just had a thought that FFXIV should take a page from GW2 here and have a bank that only holds crafting/gathering items, every slot is pre-assigned and can only hold that type of item like so

i'd like to hear you're thoughts on it, would you like to see something like this or do you have an alternative idea of your own?

GW2 did have a pretty good inventory system with all crafting materials having their own slot. On a slightly related note, their transmog system is also quite nice (the consume a gear piece to have the look stored on your account).

Crafting items should have their own inventory and Fishers need their own tackle.

Definitely need a tackle inventory or tackle box, our quest tab is basically useless & I imagine a similar tab underneath the current inventory UI would function easiily along a quest one.

By Thaliak's Beard do we need our fishing tackle to be in it's own inventory. Out of my main inventory slots, 90% of it at any given time is bait. I do my best to keep my inventory at a much lower level than other players seem to, but with all my bait, I find myself running low on space if I fish in more than just a couple of locations before returning to empty my stock, or if I run several dungeons in a row and get any loot. In all honesty, if I took all the bait out of my inventory, I wouldn't have but one or maybe two rows of items, rather than two or three pages......

EDIT: I removed a "the" in the start of my first sentence that wasn't supposed to be there. For some reason it was REALLY bugging me, even more so than normal grammar errors I make do.....

Guild Wars 2 did a pretty decent amount of stuff right, and this was definitely one of them.

SE said that the main issue with items in XIV is that they have too much information (stats, dye, spiritbond %, condition %, signatures, etc.), so for each item there are basically many copies each with every different possible information, or so I guess.

I'm starting to think that maybe the items are a bit too complex in how much information they have, so maybe something should be removed. For example, how about removing the spiritbond % for unconvertible items (which are the majority)? If you can make equipment that cannot be dyed (99% of weapons), surely you can make items without spiritbonding rate.

It is perhaps not a coincidence that the Armoury will take only 100% condition items and reset their spiritbond at 0%. This is clearly done to decrease the amount of item data the armoury must register and recognize to store an item. So maybe spiritbonding % and condition % are the two things SE should look into removing. Removing condition % may be difficult because it's a needed gil sink, but I dunno... maybe something else can be done in its stead, something that will not affect item data? Like class fatigue, healable with a fee at the inn or at Bronze Lake (it's a spa built to heal wounded fighters and ill warriors), or something of the sort, I dunno.

In addition to that, one other thing they could remove remove is elemental resistances. It's a trash stat with trash materia, and while I understand there needs to be something that people can transmute freely or vendor or sell for scraps on the MB, they could just replace elemental material with clear materia and call it a day.

That also takes away elements from the Character pane, which would be less memory usage for the UI (no text, no bits, no icons). Could also streamline the PVP resistances (slow, sleep, etc) to scale with the character's inherent magic resistance from armor and do the same with blunt/slash/pierce with regards to defense. BOOM the entire Resistances tab is now gone.

If they haven't already they need to add all stages of the 2.0 Relics into the armoire. They've been unused aside from glamours since lvl55(depending how they were statted and when you could get the better weapons). That's 10 slots freed up(21 counting DoH/L lvl50 quest to Lucis tools). I know that's not really a lot, but it is a start. They could also tack event items into the armoire during the (usual) weekly maintenance right after the event ends.

Personally I'd love to have a sort of weapons rack where I can store all my Primal Weapons off retainer as well, but not every player is a collector...
