Because that would never happen. Content does and that is understood by both parties. I don't know why you keep saying it's not when SE aknowledges that. The only people treating patches like god's gift are the fanboys, everytime SE talks about it it's something the players are owed. The minute they stop making content everyone will leave. I wonder why's that since "technically" the service is the same because that's what the ToS says... could be it be because it's not!?

Everything they put into FFXIV set a standard, be it graphics, amount of content, voice acting, quality of the soundtrack, and even (gasp) pace of patches release. Wether it's lack of funds, staff mismanagment, shortsightedness, setting un unachievable goal in the long run - pick whatever suits you it's still all on them and none on the costumer, they are not keeping up with the standard they set but are asking the same monthly fee as when they did. That would generate criticism anywhere, but only here people would rush to defend them.

If I went to restaurand and they don't serve me in a reasonable time (the one that's expected of them because it's what they usually do) I'd get an apology and a discount without asking for it even though serving times were never agreed upon... not the next table yelling at me to leave if I don't like it. That's how any proper company acts, not "lol sorry chef's on vacation, wait till next month".
