This is the truth of all games, not just this one. Every game that has ever graced a console or PC grants only two 'rights' under their ToS or EULA. 'Freedom' to play the game as presented and limited ownership of the media it was sold on if such media exists. Anything beyond that falls under different rules that are governed by the laws of the country you live in. This has been the state of games and gaming (and pretty much any other media) since it's been a thing. And it hasn't changed in all that time, just been made more complicated in it's legalese. Yes, 'bending over' for it is lame and all that but companies take their property, and this game is still Square's property, very seriously. Just look at all the copyright claims against Youtube videos these past few years to see how serious.
