Nothing the devs do is so unique or special that someone just as capable can't do. Especially since they've been using the same formula since 2.0 lol

You realise that the ideas, contents and everything for 3.1 and most likely 3.2 are already finalised. It's only a matter of programming, graphics and testing that is left which can be done by your less than average worker.

Entitled is a very overused and inaccurately used word on the forums.

The 'entitled' attitude stems from a gross misunderstanding. These players are right... about everyone being paying customers. That's about all they are right on. Our monthly subscriptions grants access to the game, but only within the scope of what's allowed by the ToS. The thing about the players that don't understand this is that they feel their monthly fee grants them some manner of control over their enjoyment of the game. It's not entirely false... when considering their characters within the game as presented to them. Within the bounds of the game rules, so to speak. Not unlike any other game. But this isn't the viewpoint that these malcontents have, they see this control as extending beyond the scope of their characters within the game. When this level of control fails they begin making demands, as if they're 'entitled' to this erroneous level of control because they are a paying customer.

So basically they're a typical American consumer?

@OP I would like to add that whether intended or accidental, the FFXIV team has done a good job at making it seem like Yoshi (and by extension the devs) are your friends. Are they? No. But that idea that they're our buddies didn't pop up out of no where.

You're not saying anything new. Legally, yes, because SE is watching their back, but we all know that's more than it to it, including SE. They don't release patches, create a forum for suggestions, reports and compaints because they are kind. It's expected of them or the sub is gone: it's not in any contract, but it's the way things actually are.

Wanting content to be released at the same speed as it's always been isn't even an outrageous demand. It's literaly asking for things to be the way they have always been... because so's the sub we pay.

SE is a business, but we are consumers. A healthy relationship between the two necessitates a steady exchange of ideas - and criticism. This is how we consumers improve the product/service we want to invest in.

Unless it's for frivolous crap like flying mounts or Gold Saucer it seems like they stopped reading the criticism part. How else can we explain why they decided to re-release hunts in the same broken manner that people have complained about since they were released, or how they decided to continue the monotonous 2 reskinned dungeons, 1 primal, 1 "raid" schedule that have people bored out of their mind? It's not even "rushing through content" like the White Knights would have you believe, it's that almost all the content they release is made to be cleared on the day of release, so after that you have 5-7 days of primal farming then another 85 days of logging in once a week to clear weeklies until the next patch.

Blaming the delay in the next release on a well needed break by the design team is frankly an admission from SE that they suck at managing a technical development team. I've managed design teams at director level (managing managers who manage engineers) and I made sure that release staffing was planned so that I didn't need to destroy the teams' lives by demanding they work without taking time off. There are always challenges to manage, but that's what managers are paid to do. My customers (and executive management) would not have been pleased with a release delay because I screwed up release staffing.

I missed the dev-post where they said they "halted" development, can I get a link pls?

Myself as a paying customer, am a little bummed about the delay. (a delay of one month for me since yoshi-p had already hinted at at least 4 months before 3.1 because of the rest) I could maybe argue that i feel SE should maybe invest more into the ff 14 dev team structure, but as it currently stands I see a "one month delay" as something i can tolerate, and if for w/e reason i couldn't tolerate it i would simply do what ive done in other mmos and unsub.
