Name Change when Race Change

I would doubt this would ever be offered as a permanent service, instead be offered as once only, once the new races come out, as nothing destroys a community more than Auto Clean Slate Attack! (AKA Ninja loot and harass/abuse to your hearts content, then FOOM! You are a brand new identity).

I would hope they give us a once only race change option with the new races, but I wouldn't get my hopes up for even that, and a name change is more than likely going to be a no.

I'd hope that they would allow a one-time name change along with a one-time race/gender change, in the event that they do offer it. Not everyone who wants a race/gender change has a name that will suit whatever race/gender they are hoping to change to.

For example, I don't think Fleur's name would be suited to a male Miq'ote, or even a female Highlander (and since it is MY character, it doesn't matter if someone else thinks it is fine, y'know?). And if Fleur was high ranked, I'd be annoyed if I had to either reroll or put up with a silly name, while my friend who has a more basic, unisex named Miq'ote could just gender-swap her or make her a Roegadyn with no problem.

Mind you, I don't plan on doing any race or gender switching myself, but I think it is important to consider. I do see the potential community issues, though I think we could deal with it for a one-time and potentially limited time offer that would greatly please many dedicated players.

I have a character whose name I just don't like as much as I thought I did. My other characters are fine, but I'd love to change just her first name without having to remake her. D:
I would be happy if a name change cost money and could only be done a set number of times or.. once a year or less often. XD
It would stop people from changing all over the place, but those who really don't like their names could be happy.

Did I miss a confirmation by a rep or something that we are getting race changes without a doubt? Not to be negative or anything - I just see everyone saying it's fact, yet I haven't seen a single quote. Last I read it was only a rep saying they might allow them. Would love some clarification.

As soon as SE said they'd look into it/might do it, people started claiming it as fact. ^^; It's unfortunate... they'll only confuse the rest of the community.

These are good points man, this is why I was raising the topic for discussion.
If there was someway to, I don't know, see who the character was previously before they changed their name.

Hey.. what if after a name change, their old name hovered above their new name, faded out a bit, for a month or two... or three? :x Just an idea. Then it's all out in the open. No trickery. Sure it'd look silly.. but it should ease people's minds about name changes.
I'd put up with it if I got to change my name. :3

Because picking a female name for a male character makes a whole lotta sense. Hence "pick intelligent names."

There will very likely be ONE TIME race/name changes when new race options are added. Outside of that, people should but more thought into their characters, and I do not like name/race change options, as they can be abused.
