From reading through the different posts from what I gather is people are not saying the developers the people employed by SE don't deserve a break cause they do. It that the company as a whole SE that can't take a break. If the company can't keep up with the demand of the consumer, which they really not demanding anything SE hasn't already said they were going to do then they need to hire more staff so the company's production can continue as normal without being held back. So I don't think anyone holding the dev team personally responsible cause Yoshi-p might be the head of the XIV dev team he still has a boss higher then him.

I added the new housing and sidequest, but I'm not going to update it with vanity items or minor tweaks at that would take me an eternity on both ends. As for the PvP, wasn't that for 3.2? The Wolves' Den 2.0 anyway, I didn't hear about anything else?

I'm sure there are still enough people working in the SE building, just not on FF XIV content. Hopefully on XV and VII remake. It is not the whole company that is on vacation.

In both cases your blaming the wrong people. You should be looking up. I have no doubts that Yoshida has a passion for the game he is making, but I also know the sad reality that is making a game in the industry these days. Tanaka got speared because his game was pushed out the door before it was ready. Blame upper managment who wanted the game out the door before the next WoWspansion.

    Cash shop?
    Late content releases?
    Weekly lockouts?

All decisions likely made by someone who isn't the lead developer of the game.

I find it disappointing that people try to bullet point a list thinking they can equate one piece of content to another in terms of workflow requirement. It shows an absolute absence of understanding on how things are actually done in video game development.

And Jynx. We've gone over this before, but Tanaka rightfully bore the responsibility for the ultimate result of 1.xx. There's no need to itemize why again. It's dead and done.

Seems rather stranger upper management would be so forceful on one department but so lax on another. I'll agree that cash shop was most likely the Upper Tier of business but lock out and content release slips are on the department lead. In fact Upper Management would be more gung-ho to push out unfinished work rather than wait. But on this I know we are going to need to agree to disagree on the subject and debating won't help.

I think 3.1 should have been broken up into two smaller parts to fill the void and also give people the rest they needed. They could have launched what ever they had finished up to this point then release the rest in November.

Fair enough, but somethings can be compared and you can't throw the same retort at those. For example, 2 dungeons compared to the 3 we had before, 2 beast tribe dailies compared to the 1 we're getting in 3.1. Although I'd imagine the housing was more hell on their network engineers rather than their art designers, especially when SE is reluctant to increase their budget to allow for more things such as an increased amount of staff, or more inventory space unless we want to pay for it in the form of a retainer.

FFXV was in "development hell", it wasn't even being close to done, hell I'd be surprised it they had even finished more than 10% of the game before 2012-13. It never really got started, that's where the problem was. FFXIV 1.0 on the other hand was well underway and was in development for what, a solid 4-5 years at that point? From what I can recall SE was doing poorly financially so it's understandable (not acceptable though) that they wanted to get it out ASAP. All that did was leave them in a significantly worse position, and you can see they've learnt from their mistakes. I mean, just take a look at the latest FFXV trailer, it's quite clear they're putting a lot of effort into the game and its world, I've never seen a world seem more "alive" in an open world game before.

I am Happy with what they released in Heavensward...it was is enough...if they kept 3.1 to be about 3 months after and not 5 months.
    1. This could have been fixed if they gave us Relic Quest sooner so we could be grinding that while we wait.
    2. I do think only two primals was a little weird, and looks like we don't even get a new one in 3.1...it seems they are lagging on ideas or content.
    3. 3.1 only having two dungeons is weak also...these exploratory missions better be pretty amazing for taking out a dungeon.
    4. Level the other jobs is suppose to be stuff we do throughout the entire expansion not just do them all before 3.1.
All in all I want them to take a break and enjoy life...the world does not revolve around video games but how long a vacation did they take?? If they took two weeks then they should only be two weeks behind...not like two months behind...right???? Is that just me.

Never heard of anything like that become.
Happens frequently with Valve. The bulk of the company goes on vacation to Hawaii and only a skeleton crew is left behind to fix pressing issues.
