No I blame Tanaka because his game was horrible.
I blame Yoshi-P because his department can't keep up the pace they set in 2.XX. He always said for subscription based games to survive today you have to pump out worthy content on a timely basis, which is true.

so a delayed expansion release because it wasn't ready on time because they wanted a high quality release and 1 major patch being delayed because they took a vacation says they can't keep up the pace, wow.

I added the new housing and sidequest, but I'm not going to update it with vanity items or minor tweaks at that would take me an eternity on both ends. As for the PvP, wasn't that for 3.2? The Wolves' Den 2.0 anyway, I didn't hear about anything else?

In both cases your blaming the wrong people. You should be looking up. I have no doubts that Yoshida has a passion for the game he is making, but I also know the sad reality that is making a game in the industry these days. Tanaka got speared because his game was pushed out the door before it was ready. Blame upper managment who wanted the game out the door before the next WoWspansion.

Cash shop?
Late content releases?
Weekly lockouts?

All decisions likely made by someone who isn't the lead developer of the game.

Sorry but I don't buy it. Mainly because it's taken 10 years for FFXIII Versus to finally come out the door. Seems rather stranger upper management would be so forceful on one department but so lax on another. I'll agree that cash shop was most likely the Upper Tier of business but lock out and content release slips are on the department lead. In fact Upper Management would be more gung-ho to push out unfinished work rather than wait. But on this I know we are going to need to agree to disagree on the subject and debating won't help.

I think 3.1 should have been broken up into two smaller parts to fill the void and also give people the rest they needed. They could have launched what ever they had finished up to this point then release the rest in November.
