I couldn't agree more. SE has a huuuuge army of white knights defending them but I honestly don't understand. Maybe they run their company like a high school? Summer's off? Who knows. My company would lose clients instantly if I told them I needed a one month vacation for the entire staff lol

I am admittedly somewhat disappointed. Realistically, I also completely understand.

The pace at which XIV has traditionally churned out content is bonkers. The development cycle for the game was crazy short by industry standards, and the turnover rate for content patches is positively batty. It's something other MMORPG developpers would love to be able to claim to their name. Unfortunately, it's set an expectation that is pretty ridiculously demanding to maintain, in an industry that's already ridiculously demanding of its employees. That's just reality. I'm pretty sure many of the people arguing it's "lazy" would balk at being asked in their jobs to put in the same kinds of hours game developpers do, nevermind ones who've pulled off the temporal irregularity that was ARR's development cycle, and have been putting in for the last 2-3+ years of their lives.

That the ridiculous pace couldn't be kept up is a bit disappointing, and there's a good chance I'll take a month's break coming up simply to take a break so I'm coming back fresh when it is that time. I pay my subscription for the game as it stands now, not out of a demand to hold over the creator's heads. When that game fails to keep me wanting to shell that out, then I don't; if their product has become temporarily unappealing due to overconsumption, you aren't obligated to continue buying. They know it, and that's why we get new content. I'm just simultaneously disappointed with those here who believe that the people who create something they pay a whopping 12$/month for aren't deserving of actually getting a chance to live life outside of a cubicle. "Adults work 40+ hours a week". Yes, and adults who do are legally also given rights like paid vacation time, holidays, and so forth. They're not slaves, they're a business.
