No the patch schedule will be the same. The development team took a break after 3.0 launch (we all need vacation time from our jobs). That's the only reason why this one is later.

But a patch after 5 months is too long considering that the expansion doesn't offer much.

Seeing as how i still consider myself a new player, i welcome this, as it is giving me time to level other jobs and such. While i "rushed" through with astrologian, instead of just mindlessly capping eso, and then afking in Iddylshire, i have picked up a sword and shield and have started to learn to tank.

While this is going on, my professions have been getting some love to, and the wardrobe is growing. So..many...glamour crystals

Even though 5 months can be considered a little longer than most content patches, why not use this time to do something else in game you have been putting off. That zeta you have been wanting? That one class you thought might be fun, but just haven't had time to level? There are countless things to do in this game.

This so much, Heavensward did not bring enough to the table to last almost half a year despite being an 'Expansion' perhaps if they actually gave us more than the endgame 2.x formula this would be an acceptable delay.

Oh yes. The zones are pretty big and the story was an enjoyable ride... but once that's over and done with and you do the same thing for 2-3 months, you get (really) bored. Currently, the only end-game PvE content worth doing in FFXIV is: Expert and Trial Roulette for Esoterics and Alexander Normal (which is unfortunately too easy. I was really hoping it would be around the same level as EX Primals. Mid-tier content) for i190 gear to fill in the blanks. Alexander Savage is only for the hardcore raiders, which is fine.
