This is what they spend their time working on while there are so many other glaring issues? PvP is a joke and something like a beta version of ArathiBasin wherein you work hard as a team (maybe) and then the game spawns two S rank nodes next to the other team in time to give them the win on a silver platter lol.. It's being grinded for glamours not for fun. We're sick of doing neverreap and frac every week. Everytime i hear someone blaming RNG for losing makes me rustle some jimmies, if you get bad RNG then YOU GO AND TAKE IT FROM ENEMY BY FORCE instead of QQ:ing. Matches where we get carried by godly RNG are worst and it disgust me when someone dares says GJ or GG in alliance chat after that.

Dont blame the mode for peoples being stupid as fuck when it comes to strategy and adapting changing situations on the fly.

The most sickening part of this entire situation is that ironic Yoshida npc quest that tells us they learned from their mistakes and actually listen to their players now.. what a load of garbage. They aren't going to listen until they see how many subs vanished at the end of September/October. Artificially inflating subs with promises of Twintania mounts from ppl dumping their cash to do it, because their actual friends refuse to touch this game is not going to be there this month. It's time for the SE development staff to "get good."

For those concerned about what other games XIV will be competing with: It'll be competing with them anyway. If they didn't put the patch out at that time, Eorzea would be even more dead than it is now. This means that some people will XIV over Fallout 4 etc, while others won't. But when they are done with it, they will be back. Over time, it should hopefully balance out the number of people running content in the game quite nicely.

The 3.1 release date is what it is, I'm a little disappointed that I'll have to wait another 1.5-2 months for my new relic and 24-man but I'll live.

What I'm more interested in is are there any translations of the live letter around yet? I cant see one on the official forums at the moment but I'd like to see what they said and any new info on the new content

First of all, it's okay for people to be disappointed in the current state of the game and the proposed future content or release timeline.

Second, there's a big difference between having content to do and having content people want to do. You can try to sell people on any aspect of the game, but whether or not they ultimately find it appealing and worthwhile is an entirely different story.

It's important for the developers to get feedback from the players, which is what these forums are designed to do. It's okay to disagree, but let's not start trying to invalidate other peoples' views simply because you don't agree with them. They have as much right to be heard as you do.

Completely agree, but that's the same reason we have a right to debate it. I think everyone's being really polite and civil towards each other in this thread, even when disagreeing, and it's really nice.

Maybe you don't realize how you and your attitude come across. Telling people their expectations are unrealistic and that they need a reality check hardly seems polite or civil. Maybe that's just me, though.

That's all fine and good, but to say that the devs shouldn't have like 3-5 days off as a "vacation" after a near 2 year grind with probably 1 day off every week or so - if that - because they want their shiny new content NOW NOW NOW? Is Not Okay in any context. They're likely close to a schedule that mangaka work on: 18-21 hours of your day is dedicated to storyboarding and drawing, and you get the 3-6 hours not taken up by that to eat/sleep. They might not be as hardcore as that, but they're likely close. So no, they had a well-deserved vacation, heaven forbid it delays the next patch some.

Editing to add: basic economics here: yeah, FFXIV might generate decent sales numbers, but the money generated from subscribers/cash shop does NOT just stay within the FFXIV dev team, it goes to the parent company as a whole. They get a budget they're allowed to work with, and it's the parent company that approves more money usage. If they don't approve it, or only approve part of what they ask for, IT IS NOT THE DEVS FAULT.
