I don't mind the wait. That will be a bad time period though since gaming always has a lot of releases in November.

This is a silly thing to complain about. Would you rather work without your own paid vacation? I'm excited for the release of 3., and early November was when I was predicting it'd come out. Just relax, everything will be good.

Wow. The sheer number of people who can not be patient is ridiculous. The delay of 3.1 is not that long. Calm down folks. There's plenty to do in the game and the servers aren't being taken down, which if that were the case, it would be justifiable to feel that you aren't getting what you're paying for. It was never guaranteed to us that we would absolutely, without any shadow of a doubt, receive content updates once every 3 months. As adults, I don't, for the life of me, understand why everyone is so very upset that the patch has been slightly delayed. We all work very hard to obtain our gear. After all the time and effort that has been put into acquiring all of the gear, and any other items, that you guys have acquired up until now, why is there such an extreme desire to have more content added, as fast as possible, so you can get more gear, to replace what you worked so hard to get?

I think a lot of the upset people here really need to take a break. If you can not find any enjoyment from what the game has to offer in it's current state, it may be time to take a break, enjoy other hobbies or aspects of life, and come back after the patch has been released, with a fresh attitude so that you can enjoy the game again.

The interesting part about the argument that we are getting less is this. They have not told us everything coming with patch 3.1, they never do. We will get a few surprises, you can count on that. How good said surprises will be remains to be seen.

What we've gotten, when you break it down to the workload for each department, what they've already announced is about what we would normally get for a patch as well. It's just fewer bullet points on an general itemization list.

Think of the workload for the development team, including the combat team to design the Exploration Missions alone, and you'd realize we're getting more out of it than the dungeons and Extreme fights we're going to be lacking.

They're handing us an entirely new endgame system - something we've been requesting for months. While it only itemizes one bullet point, that's not small by any means. And it likely occupied a lot more of the development team than Housing, considering Housing had no combat design mechanics to speak of.

Given that most dungeons amount to corridors lined with trash mobs and punctuated by boss fights, I think I'll be ok with what is effectively a zone filled with things like that built more dynamically. We likely got more than 2 dungeons worth out of the whole ordeal.

Huh? They have always told us what main content were getting each patch... I think the only thing they may have not officially announced on their LL is 3.0 relics... which they will tell us at the FATE(or tell us it's been delayed til 3.15). Still, What you see is what you get.

The feedback from this thread has been passed on. However, since the discussion of this topic is not providing any new information to pass on, we will be closing the thread at this time.

I could be wrong but what i'm hearing is the esoteric upgrade items will be given away in void ark. So all the people that just want easy stuff can do that. The only thing is most of the people that are good at the game will be gravitating more towards either the airship thing or alex savage. Which means all the people that used to afk or get carried through Crystal Tower might have to step their game up a little bit now.

I'm optimistic from what I'm hearing so far to get some of the oldschool MMO feeling back.

Here, let me put this in easier terms: everyone is thinking of an American (or maybe even a UK) work week where it's 40 hours, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day.

Japan is not like this. Just a normal salaryman can work 49+ hours a week, and while they have time off they CAN use (not including the one day holidays they have across the country) most don't. The reason? It's seen as disrespectful. So while they may have MAYBE 19 days or so of vacation time they can take, they don't. They don't want to kick back while their peers and coworkers are working and picking up their slack and going from a 12-14 hour day to a 16-17 hour day at work while that person is on a two day paid vacation.

That's why the devs taking a break after working ridiculous hours to pound out a core game, 5 patches, and a huge xpac at the same time as developing your content patches, is such a big deal. If my day consisted of reading lines of code to make sure things weren't buggy, and if I did that for upwards of 15 hours a day? I'd want a break too, even if it were for 4 days. Japan has a high suicide rate due to schooling/work conditions, and this is precisely why (out of 100k people, 19.4 people will take their own lives, for clarification.) They also have a fairly high amount of stress-related illness/deaths that come from overworking themselves.

So, there's your reasoning on why the devs needed a week, likely a week that they were reluctant to take, before jumping into making a content patch: because they're likely to work themselves to death if they don't.

tl;dr, their culture is radically different from everyone else's.

Culture in this case has nothing to do with it. People here in the US and the rest of the west can regularly do 60-70 + or more hour work weeks when its crunch time on a video game without over time. Dev studio crunch times no know culture. This kind of thing happens all the time see: EA spouse <- and thats from 2004
