It also seems like we're getting less content than what 2.1 brought to be honest.

    2.1:
    MSQ
    2 New Beast Tribes
    3 Dungeons
    24 man raid
    3 Extreme Primals
    Ultima's bane Minstrel's Ballad
    New Primal
    The Entire PvP System
    Hildibrand
    Treasure Hunts
    Free Company Housing
    Aesthetician

    3.1:
    MSQ
    1 New Beast Tribe
    2 Dungeons
    24 man Raid
1 Heavily Hinted At Extreme Trial - Singularity Reactor (likely an extreme of the new primal if we get one)
    New Primal(?)
Airship Exploration (comparable to housing in scale, except we didn't have to give up a dungeon for that)
    Lord of Verminion
Relics (which honestly should have been in 3.0...)
    Ishgard Housing and Housing Tweaks
    New Sidequest(?)

Correct me if I missed anything.

The way this is all being handled really reminds me of 1.0/FFXI days..when they weren't totally honest and kept information when it was convenient and so forth. I've supported Square all my life but they are making it really, really, really difficult for me to want to continue doing so.

The team taking a break wasn't the only reason for the delay, but no one seems to really care what he said during the PLL, although it was a very brief explanation.

All the more reason they should have a translator there, or at least post on the official forums the live translation like usual..but they did neither this time. Reap what they sow I guess.

are you going to tell us what he said? bringing it up like that without explaining it is not nice. I didn't watch, I only got info after the fact and that wasn't in it.

I posted it four pages ago, and it was ignored.

    「すみません、10月には間に合わないですね。」

So, the dev team had a short break. He didn't say how long it was, we just know they had a short break.
They also had to fix problems with the work flow. What those problems are and how they affected the patch, we don't know.
The intended release schedule was October.

From the release of Heavensward, they've rolled out patches like so.

    6/23 - 3.0 Heavensward Release
7/07 - 3.01 Alexander Normal and other additions
7/21 - 3.05 Alexander Savage, Frontline Seize, and other additions

I'm not going to count 3.07 as that was mostly job adjustments. The entirety of Heavensward was released in increments, with everything available on July 21.

Counting three months from that point puts us in October, the deadline he said they couldn't make.

For argument's sake, let's say the developers are incompetent jerks and they scheduled the release for October 26, a full three months from July 21, pushed to the nearest Tuesday because they always release on a Tuesday.

Then let's say the dev team at some point during this patch cycle took their breaks. Half took a week off, the other half took a week off and rotated.

Then they had to fix the problems with their work flow, which we don't know how it affected their schedule. Let's also include that this week just happens to be Silver Week, so unless they're working on national holidays, they are out of the office until Thursday, which costs them more time. Where does that put us?
I agree that they should plan accordingly for things like this. I can only hope that whatever problems they had with work flow have been sorted out. And to reiterate from other posts in this thread and others, he did say that the work flow of three months between patches will resume after the upcoming 3.1 patch.

From reading through the different posts from what I gather is people are not saying the developers the people employed by SE don't deserve a break cause they do. It that the company as a whole SE that can't take a break. If the company can't keep up with the demand of the consumer, which they really not demanding anything SE hasn't already said they were going to do then they need to hire more staff so the company's production can continue as normal without being held back. So I don't think anyone holding the dev team personally responsible cause Yoshi-p might be the head of the XIV dev team he still has a boss higher then him.

I'm sure there are still enough people working in the SE building, just not on FF XIV content. Hopefully on XV and VII remake. It is not the whole company that is on vacation.

I find it disappointing that people try to bullet point a list thinking they can equate one piece of content to another in terms of workflow requirement. It shows an absolute absence of understanding on how things are actually done in video game development.

And Jynx. We've gone over this before, but Tanaka rightfully bore the responsibility for the ultimate result of 1.xx. There's no need to itemize why again. It's dead and done.
