You can't hide behind the fact that it hasn't been 100% exhausted to make up for "relevant" content. Your friend is heart set on playing only healers.. he levels them all.. gears them best he can.. each week he is gated in the process by the token cap system. Your friend caps his miner and botanist and other crafters.. he crafts the same things every week to do his scripts.. camps the nodes.. then calls it a week after performing the same "chores."

In ESO, ppl complained about content... the lack of it.. so they made it possible to change factions and said there you go! Now you can grind the entire way through opposing factions! They gave people something to do.. but no one really views it that way.. even their fan boys have turned on them over that foolery. Why? because it isn't something worth while to do. For the sake of argument, I do have friends on this game lvl 60 across the board in all jobs, gated by weekly caps. Guess what? Other than minigames.. lel.. they have nothing left to do, but farm more mats to craft more stuff... lol... and yes.. they are quitting now. Please see the definition of a rant... For the record, if you didn't have people like myself and others pointing out areas of concern, you'd still be living in a feudal system or with slavery :P

You can edit your posts to put in more text past the 1000 character cap btw.

Personally my bitterness stems from the ever present need to balance tanks in endgame content. As a PLD I've been waiting since savage was released to play my PLD and am still waiting despite having invested all of my esoterics into the class (career PLD back to the beginning of ffxi) if they're going to wait another month for 3.1 I would at least like to see some QoL and job balances that are loooong overdue. Yay for NIN, but blm, PLD, drk all need fixes even if they're minor.

Guys, no, it's okay, non-instanced housing with ridiculously inflated prices to even buy a plot is okay. It'll get better, it'll fix itself, don't worry.

Guys, no, it's okay, cash shops are fine. So many pay to play MMOs do it, SE is going to use the money for new exciting content it'll be fine!

Guys. Guys. Guys, no, seriously, it's okay. 3.1 is 2 months delayed, but it's okay, the entire staff needed to take a break after putting so much work into the MSQ and forgetting to design a decent endgame despite knowing that this break was coming and that the patch would inevitably be delayed.

Guys. Something you have to understand is that Square Enix are our friends. Every single person in the company is our buddy, our pal, our amigo - we share this experience with them, we go to brunch together, we've gone way back. Let's cut our close friends at Square Enix a break, they've worked so hard! Think of the poor souls. We, as customers, as people have supported them 2+ years, deserve this kind of treatment! My money practically means nothing to me - if I weren't shoving it into SE's pockets I'd be eating it or gluing it to the walls.

I remember in SWTOR we waiting on a certain feature for months because the PvP part was delaying the big patch. Most the community was just getting annoyed with the whole thing and telling the devs to release what they had and catch PvP up later.

As for the devs and their time off, sure they earned some rest but when your an adult you work 40+ hours a week, 54 weeks a year. Sometimes you have to put in 60 to 80 hours a week to get things done. I know if my company told the customer "Sorry but we need to delay the product a month because our people need time off" we would get laughed at and told to either hire more people to stay on schedule or pay stiff fines as per contract.
first point: Content patches a good way to make people interested in returning to a game. More practically, however, major content patches are pricey to make and pricey to put online. I don't know how SE manages it but at my company we have to submit patches for approval. We don't have deployment costs but I think some places still do. Again, I don't work for SE nor do I have any insight into how they operate things but patch cycles are present in any online game. Usually only when a game breaking bug comes up is something rushed into deployment.

Having cycles allows us to have content for you, the user. And most companies I've worked for or have spoken to are working on multiple patches at a time. If something isn't ready, it's pushed to a later patch, must have content for the next patch becomes priority one tasks etc.

Second point: It was made pretty clear these guys NEEDED that much time to depressurize. From all I've read doing the expansion AND 2.x AND making these new jobs destroyed their stamina, but they were intent on the first expansion being a burly one. Never underestimate how much work is required to make one of these monsters. I know someone who had to work for a certain major company for a while and they worked her so hard with no break she quit her job, moved to Tibet and became a monk. That story is true.

My posts are more or less replies to previous comments that challenge the validity of their statements. Length alone does not constitute as a "rant." I can assure you that there's absolutely no passion in my typed words. I'm providing relatively complete answers. Be thankful I am not listing actual citations to everything that I say, because I could. Colorful, thank you for pointing that out to me. I actually appreciate that and will do so in the future to avoid the clutter.

It would be worth using the Reply with Quote feature for that. It looks like you are just ranting because we're seeing ~3 posts with no quotes referenced in them. With a quote, it looks like a specific reply to someone else's comments.

As for my own thoughts, I have no issues with the date of 3.1 especially not when the reason is vacation. As someone who works in development as a programmer (different kind of industry, but fundamentally it's similar), I know only too well how many hours you have to start putting in towards a deadline - you can easily expect to put in 6 days a week working 12+ hours each day and you don't always get paid for that time in money; it tends to be time off or even nothing at all in compensation.

I hope they took the time to relax and recover and are now ready to go at it again.

Awsome. I have the chance now to level up other jobs, farm Esoterics for every job at/or close to 60, start learning some Ex primals, level Desynth, finish second coil. Get better at A4, pray for upgrade mats outside of savage, finish second relic, get good at lv51+ HQ craft rotations, Card farm, Minion farm, save gill, crystal farm, actually play fisher for exp outside MB dailies, level up big bird. So much to do in 5 months, and to think I was trying to rush everything
    before October.

Who says you have to log in daily? There's nothing wrong with taking a break if you're tired of something-- it's a perfectly normal thing to do. The way so many people are screaming and crying about how they don't have a reason to log in every single day (or, conversely, how they feel compelled to log in every day to run things) is, quite frankly, evidence of a rather unhealthy attitude bordering on addiction.

It's fine to take breaks. It's fine to do something else if you're tired or bored or burned out or whatever. The game shouldn't be your entire life. I was hoping we'd get 3.1 in October myself, but it is what it is, and I have plenty of ways to entertain myself both in the game and out of it until November.
