Frontlines would say hello, but it's too busy being deserted. FFXIV just doesn't seem to attract much of a PvP audience.

You don't fight other players directly. You fight for kills and fight through a respawning living zone to kill bosses. The rewards are better though.

I'm just not sure that kind of content will be inclusive enough, it sounds a liitle to close to something that a small group ofhighly geared players could dominate.

Not really if a zone is big enough. If the zone is big enough there is no way a group can go through everything if another group is closer. Gear also does not matter much in FFXIV.

Also, if the players do that they deserve the loot. The other players deserve nothing. Its a contested zone. You fight other players for content.

Contested Content is fun and actually really popular. Just not something put into games these days.

However, the entire point of contested dungeons is its high risk high reward. If you try to plow through it fast you could wipe or get killed leaving another group closer to you.

He's looking for things like old school EQ/EQ2 contested dungeons.

Which a single group with any kind of gear *can* completely dominate!

For people who are concerned about the best of the best farming the place: RNG, competition. If you were one of the best of the best, would you spend time farming A Rank (and above) level hunts to compete with 7-23 additional people for a potentially low % chance of a i210 drop (which could have horrible stats for your job), or would you just farm Savage with no more than 7 other people to compete with for a 100% chance of a i210 drop (with stats designed to be good for your job)?
