Mermaid winged race?

I'd love if there were a type of mermaid species with wings like the statue in Aleport. The other races are honestly too normal to me.

I would love that but you have to something in return like it would be a skill only dropping in dungeons or raids
Another possibility would be that it can be dropped by... let's say every mob/boss or whatever over level 30,but of course the dropping rate would be very low (higher from raid/dungeon bosses).
What do you think of that? Do you maybe have a better idea?

From what their Triple Triad card says, they were culled by Mistbeard but have recently come back to suck the souls out of sailors.

The mermaid statue at Aleport isn't representing any hypothetical race on Hydaelyn though - it's simply a reference to FFIX, specifically the figurehead that adorned the Prima Vista airship (as seen in concept art here - the figurehead is identical to the Aleport statue).

Besides, given the fact we have footwear and have to ride mounts, how would a fish-tailed race be able to make their way around on land and ride mounts like the magitek armour? Using wings to levitate off the ground wouldn't work either, due to the fact it pretty much invalidates fall damage and then throws the entire game's design out of wack. No, I hate to say it, but such a playable race concept simply is not possible I'm afraid.

I know it's just a Easter egg, but you know how Square Enix likes to put lore around the reasons for things existing in this game; so it could potentially be a secret new lore about a mythical race thought to be extinct.

Originally I could just see the footwear being as an attribute rather then appear on the body itself. Though recently I thought up the possibility of this race being able to emerge legs from their mermaid tail, and recede them whenever they want for people whom want to keep footwear visible.

Invalidate fall damage? Lol, we have flying mounts that still take damage in the non-flying areas, and honestly in the flying areas we mostly just fly once we have attuned to the aether currents.

So yeah, I still think it's possible. We now have a flying turtle, so it's obvious that Square is paying attention to things we really like. I plan on making a video displaying my character concept better made on 3ds max, so we'll see how that goes...
