Data Centre Transfer Concerns

So after reading the thread posted on the launcher/loadstone about Chaos being transferred (yay!), I’ve – I say I’ve, I’m posting on behalf of a few people in my FC – got a few questions that I hope someone can answer.

1. When is the move taking place? As far as I can see there's only a date for a character back up (the 18th of Sept)
2. If we have housing, either private or personal, will we lose it?
3. If it happens to take longer than the 3 - 5 days, what happens? Will we be told on the forums/loadstone or just left to wonder?
4. If we've earned certain achievements - for example: we've farmed and won PVP mounts AFTER 9am on September 18th - will we lose them since the back up has already taken place? (the same goes for titles, gear, etc.)

If someone like a dev or anyone in the loop could fill me in on the details, that would be fantastic because right now there’s a fair few people in my FC a little freaked out.

1. no time is set. 18th september is the final date to create a character on a EU server to earn the free playtime during the maintenance. No free playtime if you create a character after the news.
2. it will be a 1:1 copy/paste. No house get lost (unless you want to left the chaos sever group)

The 18th of Sept is only if you will get a "Subscription Period Extensions" due to the severs going down for 3 to 5 Days, it has nothing to do with any backup of character data.
They have said previously that the move should be mid october.
All data (character, housing etc) will be moved so you will not loose anything, so you can keep playing until the start of the mainenace without loosing anything.

Thanks for clearing things up! As far as I know, I'm the only one in my FC that uses the forums here so I figured I'd post to get a little clarification.

IIRC correctly these are tied to your server/character, not the data center. You should not loose anything unless SE messes up with the backup.

3-5 day maintenance? I feel bad for anyone with a garden! If it goes like other extended maintenances, time will continue to pass in game and all your plants will die if not harvested before the start.

Euhm... The house is on the server you buy it on. If you move your character to another server - the same plot is probably not even free. Logic dictates that of course you'll be losing your house. That's not something that can be transferred over; the items in it, probably, especially if you pick them up beforehand, but not the house/plot itself.

Question. what happens with lets say Eso tomes... are we gonna lose out on a weeks cap? unless we cap in 2 days(Worst case scenario)

Euhm... The house is on the server you buy it on. If you move your character to another server - the same plot is probably not even free. Logic dictates that of course you'll be losing your house. That's not something that can be transferred over; the items in it, probably, especially if you pick them up beforehand, but not the house/plot itself.

Their server is being moved to a new data center (Eurpoean), they will still be on the same server, just in a different data center - you're thinking they are moving servers. If that was the fact, then yes you would be correct. They want to make sure their items, house etc will still be there when the server itself is moved to the new data center.

Since the house etc is tied to the server, unless SE messes up, everything should still be there when they log back in after their server has been moved to it's new data center.

Yes, we will likely lose the Eso cap.
But come on... WHO CARES? The improved gameplay will MORE than make up for such insignificant inconvenience.
