is there anyway to play in low resolution like 800 x 600

Well assuming it doesn't actually come up with an option in the interface you could try manually changing it.

In your Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn folder is a file called ffxiv.cfg which you can just open in notepad which contains the settings for the game.

About 22 to 25 lines down are ScreenWidth, ScreenHeight, FullScreenWidth and FullScreenHeight and you could try changing those to 800 and 600 respectively (the first two are if you run it windowed, the second set are if you run it fullscreen)

However, I have no idea if the game will even run if you do that as possibly it's just too low to display things as the HUD perhaps can't scale down enough, but if you get issues just change those values back or delete the entire file (which would mean you have to setup all your options again though).

There is an ingame setting for a custom resolution, i think. I never had to use it, i don't know how it works. Lowest i have seen avaliable is 1024*768, maybe because of my hardware.

You could prolly set your desktop resolution to 800 and play in windowed fullscreen too.
