Suggestion: Allow Free Transfers TO European Data Center

They're trying to ease how much data they'll have to transfer so that they can have the servers back up as quickly as possible

Can just accept transfers once the dust settles, maybe a week after servers are back up incase they still need to iron out bugs. So this shouldnt be a barrier for SE keeping things fair.

The only reason I can see why they don't make it free for NA/JP -> EU is the potential volume of people. This way, you can potentially have people from 5 data centers move to one. The other way, you get people from one data center getting dispatched to 5 others. Of course they could only give the free transfer to people with EU currencies on mogstation and/or IP geolocalized to Europe (not errorproof but in the rare instance this is wrong you can always appeal).

I'm on Hyperion because when given the choice to go to the data center recommended to EU, I've ping'd/traceroute'd all the servers and found out they were all in Montréal. I stayed on an NA server because of the linkshell/friends I've played with since early access of 1.0 in 2010. Of course, I'd like to be offered a free transfer to take advantage of the lower latency.

I can already see them not allowing players to transfer gil above 1m to the new servers. Great way to incentivize transfers...

I can agree with this if the transfers would be only allowed to the LESS populated EU servers, that would be a good way to avoid the overpopulation of the most populated servers.

I think i said something similar in another thread pre-annoucement so yes please SE I would love to transfer even to lesser populated server

You guys do realize they tend to only respond to things they have an answer on or can actually give input to the devs on right?

It was also created over the weekend, and you tend to not see responses till the middle of the week.
