Are the RMT making a run on the market?

I have noticed for a while now. Certain items will be priced well and then all of a sudden the price plummets next to nothing. And a day or two later the price is back up and then the cycle starts all over again. Do you guys think that the RMT are killing the prices on the MB?

Na it's the player base, everyone undercuts each other.

See how it works is, the odd 10 15 players will notice let's say, Mythril Ore is now 600Gill x1, So the 10-15 players all take to gather the mythril Ore, place it on MB and say about 8 of them undercut each other lowers it to about 500gill, that's still a nice amount of gill, 100 X Mythril ore = 50,000 or so.

Then more players start to notice, some might have gone to the MB and thought, pfft Mythril ore is so cheap I'll just buy some, oh snit! How much? I'm gonna go gather some and any left over I'll put on the MB. Or just straight up ah I Myhril ore is on high, time to cash in!

And then boom! over time more and more players will try to cash in on this high and since we are a bunch of undercutters the price will drop, and you will always get that one, where he sells he's ore for 20gill with the 2nd lowest beining 150 gill.

Yes that's how prices drop slowly, which is understandable. But many times I see an item sell consistently for example at 100k. You look at sale history and see that the item sold ten times in last few days between 90k-110k. Then you look on mb and see it posted for 100k, and underneath those posted. 3 are posted for 25k. I know people want money fast, but to drop it an average of 75k is absurd. It would sell just as fast at 80k, n you get more money.

Not really, I personally refuse to pay more than 75-80k for ANY gear item and will never pay more than 50k for a Glamour. Housing Items I have a budget of 150k tops. Some times items are priced to the point where they cost too much and THAT is why they move slow. If I see a gathering gear piece that runs for 100k+ on average drop to 25-50k how ever I snatch that up as fast as my controller can select the commands to do so.

I know right? that is like, dude, you're not gonna make gill like that...well you are but not alot. If the price is low enough I buy, re-put it on the MB for more price.

I don't know about all that but I do know RMT use the mb to buy Gil more now. Over the past few weeks I've noticed skill speed iv and a couple other IVs getting bought by obvious RMT characters for 4mil+ a pop when there's several posted far, far lower

that only works sometimes -- like when the item is difficult or rare to obtain.

Another thing I've noticed is that sometimes people sit at their retainer bell and camp the market prices. People like this will be undercutting every 5-10 minutes, and when there's more than one person doing that in the same market, you will see drastic price drops in less than a day (I've seen an item go from 90k down to 15k in less than 24 hours). Nevermind the fact that one sells every hour or so, these people *need to be that person that sells theirs first* regardless of how much profit they're losing from these aggressive behaviors.

I just want to chime in that this statement is false. Items undercut by large margins DO sell faster than items undercut by smaller margins. There are people who buy and resell items, and the bigger the magin gap--the better chance to sell to a reseller.

Nah, players like myself are doing it. I have from time to time bought out a board item and re-listed said items at 2-3x previous highest price. The items are usually sold before the price drop to even the previously highest price.
