So...yeah. The Sultansworn. They're supposed to be the elite royal guard of the Sultanate - in this case, Nanamo. With everything that happened in 2.55...where were they?

The Sultansworn were prone to corruption from various factions agendas in multiple and I think all quest lines involving them so should assume they were bought out or distracted.
Now if it was the Sultansworn in its glory days it might be a different story but the current one is a shadow of its former self as said during the pld chains.
Holding on to our weapons.
The PLD quests clearly stated that the majority of the order were actually in the pockets of the Monetarists (except for Jenlyns), so it's not too much of a stretch to assume that Lolorito manipulated them into standing down during the banquet and letting the Crystal Braves and Brass Blades take over security (because his extended Batman gambit depended on there being no interruptions from outside forces that he could not directly control).
Considering Jenlyns was completely in the dark as to what happened (he treated the accusations levied against us as "rumours" that he didn't believe at all), more than likely they had been confined to their barracks, yet another hint at the time that there was much more to that situation than met the eye.
They were an aspect of the lore that was inconvenient to the direction the writers decided to take the story in, so they were simply disregarded for the sake of expedience? Nah, they'd never.
What really happened was, Teledji Adeledji left a copy of How (Not) To Guard Your Sovereign in the Sultansworn barracks reading room and shifted the "USED" sticker over to cover the (Not). The rest was Jenlyns being Jenlyns.

The only difference the sultansworn being in the 2.55 story would have had is that it would be them arresting us, not the brass blades. Our arrest was perfectly legal and even if they thought us innocent they would still be compelled by the law to arrest us. After that we would probably be handed over to the brass blades anyway as the Sultansworn's role isn't law enforcement and frankly they would probably be dealing with the dishonour of failing in their duty.
This of course ignores the corruption in the sultansworn as well. Simply put, their presence would likely have made things worse for us, not better.
