The game and its current state

Well, that's fair enough, but really, it's not like previous FF games have truly remarkable storylines either (my own opinion of course but since FFX, the storylines of FF games has, been a mixed bunch, from FFX's ridiculous dream people, to FFXII's 'Star Wars Episode IV in Ivalice', to the impenetrable psychobabble that was FFXIII and it's sequels - even FFXI's ran off the rails eventually with recent expansions contradicting previous storylines and rendering the earlier stories moot.

I wouldn't know much about FF history to be honest. The only other FF game I've played besides this was FFX. I did enjoy its story though.
