i got a question for you dps..

specifically bards dragoons and any1 who can cross class archer skills...

why do u act like i'm asking u to drown kittens when i ask u to use ur detaunts if u manage to pull aggro off me when i tank? EVERY dps that has a detaunt that i call on this immediately just blows me off and blames me exclusively and some even say "the threat meter is only for the tank to watch not dps"

ppl like this i wanna just let die.. it's like ur given the tools to drop/watch ur aggro yet you ignore that and opt to blame the tank only.. this is the only mmo i've ever played where dps are this.. flippant about bein told to watch their aggro i get that it's ur job to dps but yea if ur doin that at the expense of making ur healer work harder ur doing it wrong

this kind of garbage drives me up the wall and makes me not wanna tank anythin that isn't a trial/raid

Cause they've got a big ego to stroke, certain pleasure, whenever their dmg enmity could surpass tanks' enmity bar. For me personally, I always use Quelling Strike on my MCH whenever I notice that the tank cannot keep their threat up in my Wildifre burst. It really helps.

You are correct and the dps should be using Quelling Strikes before they burst in their opener for sure. I do this and just "got into the habit from the start". I think some players when challenged like this take offence and shut down on people trying to give them help most of the time. All I can offer is to ask as nicely as possible and that is about all you can do. If it comes down to it you can "teach them a lesson" but then that sets things up to be tense in the run and people RAGE quitting. When I tank I never have issues with this and I am sure that dps are not using their abilities as well. I think you could just stand to be "more" prepared with your threat so that this doesn't happen. Up to you in the end though. Good luck.

When do they take aggro from you? At mobs or at a boss?

For dragoons, losing enmity means using elusive jump, which means jumping backwards. Depending where you are, jumping backwards might be worse than tanking the aggro for a bit. Since behind you could be more mobs, aoes attacks, a cliff etc.
But yea, DPS should watch their aggro.

That's fine and dandy for all the rest u DPS out that have access Quelling Strikes, us Monks despite being Top DPS on group parses DO NOT have access to Archer Cross Class abilities nor have an enmity reducing ability like Elusive jump or the Emnity redirecting skills of a Ninja. We would LOVE to have QS as a ability, but instead we're stuck with Foresight, Skull Sunder, Fracture, Bloodbath, and Mercy Stroke.

Because Quelling Strike from the Archer/Bard is NOT a "de-taunt". It's simply a skill needs to be preemptively use to LOWER aggro generated by any subsequent skills for next 15 seconds. It does NOT lower any existing aggro already present.

Tank should only struggle with aggro in the early levels. Only reason why they struggle with aggro in late and end game is due to severe over-gear (like 50+ ilvl) or lack of tank's skill or both.

True "de-taunt" are Shroud of Saints (WHM) and Elusive Jump (DRG) both of them are not accessible for majority of DPS classes.

When I know absolutely I'll pull off a tank (aka right before a boss where I've popped all my CDs, Empyreal Arrow + Barrage will immediately put all aggro on me..oops), I'll pop Quelling strikes beforehand. Sometimes that doesn't even work though (even while waiting for the tank to pull first).
Since it only STOPS emnity and doesn't decrease it at all...well. If I've taken your aggro sure I'll use it but then it's up to you to get it back, since there's not much else I can do besides stop attacking completely (which I have done in certain cases).

But yeah people who refuse to use it are just lazy

Assuming equal gear, you shouldn't be losing threat in anything other than boss openers, but even then those are coupled with threat reductions so it shouldn't be an issue.

Archers don't have de-taunts, the only de-taunts are exclusive to WHM/DRG.

Archer's is meant to be used pre-emptively before burst opener like the one BLM has, because that will totally rip aggro off the tank if done properly.

Do agree that your dps-es were being a pain in the ass though.

Because enmity-lowering skills aren't up for every pull unless your group DPS is bad.
