Editing Forum Tags To Insult People

Hoping something get's said about this tomorrow..

If this thread get's closed without a proper sticky being made.. I guarantee a few months later people will be back to doing their vile business in tags. It's what happened the last time I made this topic.

I find it funny how someone who I've caught over 10 times and reported for abusing tags to insult forum topics and the OP has added a tag related to the topic without insulting me or this subject.

If I remember rightly, one of the Community Team members explained about exactly how the thread tags work back on the Beta Forum (which was suffering from much the same problem of people adding insulting tags to harass or troll other members as is happening here) - basically anyone can add a tag to a thread, however every time a thread is tagged the forum software actually logs the username and IP address of the person adding the tag to the forum administration panel, meaning the Community Team/moderators can easily resolve such problems by seeing exactly who added what tag at what time to what thread. Once Beta testers were told this, things improved considerably on the Beta forum, at least as far as people using tags to troll each other was concerned.

Given the same forum software (VBulletin) is used here for the official FFXIV forum that SE used for the Beta test forum, I don't see any reason why things would be different here, although it would be great if one of the Community Team or a GM/moderator could clarify this.

I saw a thread last week with some pretty horrific tags on it and I just shook my head at the level of bullying endemic in these forums. Had no idea it was reportable. Next time you can bet I'll be taking every name and writing that very strong letter to the admins. It's ridiculous that people on this forum can't have a discussion without degenerating into kindergartners.

Do you have such thin skin you get this hurt by forum tags of all things? Ignore the bad tags and get over it, it's not like they mean anything anyway. I guess sticks and stones is no longer taught to kids these days.

Nice strawman. This is about breaking the forum rules and going against what mods want. If you're ok with that then you are just as much a part of the problem as the people who add in thread tags to harass others.

Do you know what that even means?

Yeah, putting insults in the tags is wrong, acting like this is the greatest transgression against mankind; using words such as "disgusting" and "vile" and the OP must act as some special warden until a CM personally answers him is overblowing it though.
