Block first timers from Party Finder!

..and what exactly prevents you from making your own full group with friends/guild members/whatsoever and line up for the pf?

...and what prevents a first-timer from making a learning/clear party of their own instead of sabotaging someone's farm run?

Sometimes you can't find a party of 8 from people you know. I know there's plenty of times when I've only been able to scrape up 4-5 people and we end up pugging the rest. So... that means you should have to endure first timers mucking about and messing up your farm runs? I don't follow your logic here. If I put up a PF for a farm, that should tell people that they need to know the fight. If someone sends me a tell saying they've been to x% and just haven't been able to get a party to clear it, I give them a fair shot. 2-3 wipes is usually enough to tell if they actually do know the fight. If it's clear that that's not the case, I tell them they need to get some more practice and ask them to leave the party (if it hasn't already broken up due to people getting frustrated). It's terribly selfish and disrespectful to jump into a farm run and expect the other seven people to carry you through the fight.

Does the message appear when a new person joins your group? If your on farm, you have every right to get rid of said players that have not cleared. However, should you choose to keep them, then it's whatever happens, happens. This could be a bit tougher to do if more than one new player joins, since you won't know who has cleared and who hasn't, but I don't think blocking in the PF is the answer..

Especially in a theme park type MMO as this one. I just don't see devs giving players the ability to lock out folks from the PF. Plus I can see this being abused in some way or another down the line. People do crazy things sometimes when given the means to do so.

And what about the rest of the player base? I'm wanting an option, not a change. They can still use it for learning.

Does the message appear when a new person joins your group? If your on farm, you have every right to get rid of said players that have not cleared. However, should you choose to keep them, then it's whatever happens, happens.

The title is just a quick version of what I'm trying to convey. The message only pops up when you've actually entered the duty, meaning it could be anyone if they are all PUGs and don't say anything (which let's face it, people rarely do).

It's not just being the party leader that's causing problems either. I have joined parties which say 'disband if bonus' and of course someone who is new has to join. It's getting kind of ridiculous.

As I said.. Nothing is stopping them from using the party finder for whatever reason they want to.

The problem is by the time you've gotten in and found out that there's a new member, that's already 10-15 minutes wasted trying to recruit a new member. That's if the person talks up and says they're new and I've found that they don't a lot of the time. Mind giving examples of how this could be excused? Every Time someone suggests something that can be used to keep a party working and smooth people shout "But what of the abuse?". Parsers, lootmaster (glad that was put in), and now this.

Yeah youre right, now i read again the topic of OP and now i understand better he only want a option for that, i agree totally, but i think he chose a bad title.

I would love to have an option to see what other players have cleared or not cleared. I'm never against helping new players clear content, I am however against liars trying to find an easy clear.

An example I have would be a time I saw an unsyched Garuda farm posted on the PF. Well, I'd like a pony and an FC mate of mine did to so we went along. Well, they qued up for Ifrit Ex instead and the "New player" message popped up. "No biggie" I thought. "One of them must've not gotten a clear yet, so friends are helping" I thought.
I was never so wrong before in my life
Everyone besides me and my FC mate where new, no one did any research what so ever, the other healer (FC mate was white mage) kept blowing people up, other tank wouldn't swap (Yea, I know unsynched, I like giving healers an easier load anyways) DPS falling like flys, not killing nails, etc. ANYTHING THAT COULD GO WRONG WENT WRONG

In the end on the last run we were about to quit, we somehow beat it. 6 new players we left after giving them their clears. No pony btw.

Anyway, the point is if your PFing hard content just remember this.

Yeah, I guess if your already in the instance stance starting the fight, it is a but too late. Usually from my experience, leaders who see that message upon entering (full party) pretty much say they won't go any farther with someone sneaking into their clear and just up disbands. Like I said, it is hard to know who has and clear and who doesn't when you PUG up.
