Of course I'm glad he was honest. But we still didn't have any obligation to help him after he ignored PF rules, and we did.
What they should have or shouldn't have isn't the point. My concern is how does the story help you to promote your suggestion?

Imagine that you are a person who snucks into farm parties, let's say exceptionaly skilled, so that you can one shot it (some players are cocky). Now you can either lie and get a chance to clear it, or be honest and get what? Few friend requests? That's great, buuut you aren't looking for friends (hollow names on the list), you are looking for the clear. So ultimately it comes to one question - Have you helped the guy to get his clear? I am not saying you should have helped him when you were farming, I am saying you should have waited till you had time to help him, so that your story can reach better moral high ground.

As the farm party you had no obligation to help, no arguing about that, but when you decided to bring it here as "honesty = benefit"... that's where you should have helped your own cause more.
