    Please Remove or Repurpose Parry

    Could we get this stat removed entirely from the game or completely re purposed into something meaningful?

    Options for parry:

    - Direct damage reduction(always affects incoming damage).
    - Directly Reduce damage from critical strikes.
    - % Chance to counter strike

    Any other options to making parry better?

    Nothing can save Parry as long as it remains a Defensive Stat. That's just the way this community is now.

    It's moreso the fact that damage requirements for Alexander Savage are incredibly tight right now, so you are literally hurting your group's ability to progress if you don't focus on offensive stats.

    If the next tier has more of a focus on healing/tanking requirements, then we should see the community focus more on mitigation again.

    The consensus right now is definitely that Parry is too weak to consider, so something definitely needs to be done. I'd say direct-target magic spells should become parryable, or that Parry should also affect % mitigation as well as parry chance (but a chance at...what, 20% mitigation for only physical attacks? Not worth it).

    High DPS requirements are beside the point. While it is certainly not very effective as a Defensive Stat, the main reason Parry is so hated is that it isn't damage. This was the case long before high DPS checks were so pervasive. It's inefficiency at mitigation is just kicking it while it's down.

    Well they definitely need to do *something* with it...

    When a stat is so ineffective that it isn't even worth considering then something is clearly wrong with it. I doubt the original intention was for it to be completely useless. Trash stats are pretty common in games though so I dunno, maybe it's a huge joke for the developers.

    You mean devs. It's the devs doubling down on DPS checks, coupled with the fact that anything that's painful to a tank (tank busters) is predictable, so healers can shield/pre-cast for it, and tanks have their only true source of mitigation saved for it (CD's), then couple in the fact that bosses and trash outside the top tier stuff hit like a wet noodle, even if you gather a bunch up.

    Then you can't forget parry's stat weights are just awful, always have been. You need more than the game will provide to make a real difference in mitigation.

    I'm ok with keeping it a defensive stat, I just wish it also:

    Increased block (slightly) on PLD to compensate for the fact that blocked attacks can't be parried.
    Increased parry strength (so it works like crit)
    and was replaced by a new stat (Resilience? or whatever) that increases both parry and resistance to all magic (so it's not useless in all magic fights)

    The content doesn't matter. As long as Parry fails to increase damage to the extent one of the other secondaries can, Tanks will always avoid it. Unless, of course, something is changed to make it explicitly necessary to survive encounters. This is why I name the community. It has evolved to a point where DPS is valued above everything else, because even if it isn't necessary for a DPS check it'll still get the job done faster. Therefore, making Parry a better Defensive Stat will not help things one bit.

    Or you know. .. .display what the actual rate vs same level is.
    Have it parry more than 10% of all hits. Significantly more than 30% if it wards off only 20% of the damage. Why is it so damn low in everyway!?

    Or the BIG one:
    Reduce all of the damage like a parry is supposed to do. How is it a parry when you still get hit by 80% of the hit? The answer: You're a klutz and you're doing it wrong, and you still got stabbed.
