    Ranged LB not working on slopes

    Like someone in the JP forums mentioned, the ranged LB doesn't hit your target when there's a slope involved.



    Top bar: The current state of LB aoe
    Bottom Bar: Ideal LB aoe

    This has pretty much existed since the start of FFXIV, with people exploiting Twintania's divebombs in a similar fashion by making use of a slope. From then on, all Boss fights occurred on flat ground to cover up this fault.

    Is it difficult to factor in height into the code/program?

    I don't think t5 divebomb was a exploit but yeah maybe they should fix this

    The point of the slope for twintania was to make sure she always dive bombed outside of the arena apart from that small area

    but yes this new LB issue has been a problem since seal rock was added

    I've mentioned this a long while back and it hasn't gotten any attention (even though they had forwarded to the accepted bugs section)

    It's utterly infuriating since ranged LB is technically lower damage than caster with a much lower effective range, made all the worse that you can't even take advantage of most of the bottle necks on the high ground nodes

    The pit in T5 was nothing more than a physical landmark. The tactic could have worked from many locations, it was just easy to do there since that's also where the next set of adds spawned. The actual elevation and going up and down had nothing to do with dodging the divebomb.

    I was under the impression that all AOEs, including LBs, had an exclusively horizontal property to them.


    Twin's Dive on flat ground.


    Slope exploit. People who were slow in running up that hill still got hit by that AOE.

    But can u really call it "exploit". So is using tempered will etc also a exploit cause I can dodge divebombs with skills like this too?

    It's taking advantage of a flaw in the system. Whether it can be termed 'exploit' is another argument for another day anyway.

    Can't they make it so that the LB originates from the source and ends exactly at where the target last was, with height factored in?

    Before you reply with "slope is designed to avoid such attacks as well", no they aren't designed for such attacks for example: Chimera's trial where you it up and tank it above a rock and dragon's voice won't hit ranged at all, how is this not an exploit?

    Actually it doesnt matter since there is no real difference in difficulty to dodge the db with the slope or not (atleast for me). Comparing it to the LB issue mentioned above is meh cause it works a bit different. And no its not that "hard" to fix it but I could imagine there are some problems x.x
