    In the 2 ammo opener it's after Hot Shot and before Lead Shot, alongside Potion. So,

    Hot Shot, Hypercharge, Potion
    Lead Shot, Reload
    Split Shot, Wildfire
    Etc..

    You'll clip the GCD if you potion as well, but that can't be helped, there's no other place for any of those abilities. And if you don't use potion for whatever reason (farm content, dungeons, etc), then no clipping and it's perfect.

    Hmmmm. Just finished my relic. Now I think maybe a max melded accuracy/crit i275 relic might be bis. It will allow us to use the augmented shire gloves and change a lot of current accuracy melds in our gear to crit/det instead.

    ^That's what the bards are doing actually, Crit and a spread of acc+sks on relic to allow them to maximize crit on gear. I don't think it will be the superior option for us as our stat priorities are a little different though.

    For us, it's not so much that crit is amazing (obviously we like crit, not as much as bards though), but that skillspeed does almost nothing for us. So while you could make a crit/acc relic to allow you to take the crit/sks shire gloves and alex pants, the sks on those pieces is a bit of a party pooper for us. For bards it's win/win since they like sks almost as much as they like crit, but for machinists my gut says it'll be a net loss.

    So you're gaining 142 crit and 208 sks and losing 325 det, personally I would take the det.

    Machinist gearing is kind of funny in that we don't really love any particular stat. Everyone likes crit because it's the mathematically strongest stat, but we don't have any special mechanics like River of Blood (bard) that make it disproportionately better than other stats for us. We're not like black mages and bards too who value skillspeed disproportionately because of their casttimes.

    The only thing that really defines our gearing strategy is that we hate skillspeed because its disproportionately bad for us (doesn't affect turret, 50%+ of our damage output is not affected by skillspeed at all), so instead of "maximize crit", it's more like "minimize skillspeed" if you get what I mean. And it so happens this tier SE was kind to us and we get to do both at the same time

    Here is the thing, the Dervy stat weights say that Sksp is actually rated a little higher than Det is right now, since Det has had severe diminishing returns over the course of a season. I don't know how seriously one should take those stat weights but the same weights by the same guy do affect the BiS for other jobs and they get it right from what I can tell.

    If that was the case, then wouldn't this be better?

    Where did you see those? I'm not aware of him putting out any MCH statweights, the last I've heard of it is https://dervyxiv.wordpress.com/stat-weights/ in which the MCH weights are explicitly stated to be still incomplete.

    Actually what surprised me about the weights in that link is that sks for BRD is barely above det, which is closer than I would've guessed given how much time they spend casting (and not to mention more of their damage comes from DoTs). You can infer that for MCH who benefits from sks even less in practice, that value would be even lower in relation to det.

    Well let me see, I guess stats weights, openers, 3.4+ BIS now that Creator is out and done, maybe a rough overview of how the job plays. I think you can't go wrong with general purpose information like that. There's really a ton of things to cover if you want it to be a comprehensive guide - but that role has mostly been superceded by people publishing their own guides (on google docs or what have you).

    Might be helpful to have a link to resources like the MCH discord server too, a lot of people hang out there these days, and you often get some pretty good discussion going.
