The second use of Ricochet always has me torn as it's a little sad to use such a strong skill unbuffed. If I hold it for 30 secs, it gets to be used with BfB/Hawks/Wildfire.
Any advice or points of reference I could use about stance dancing?
I'm familiar with the job, just this particular playstyle escapes me. I am slow, struggling to figuring out when and where to do so. Playing on PS4 too, so I cannot use a parser to sit and figure it out with numbers.
Apologies if this could be easily found in this thread somewhere, using the mobile version of this website so am still getting familiar with it all.
The google doc version of the guide has a section on Stance dancing, but the jist of it is:Any advice or points of reference I could use about stance dancing?

If you have to move for extended periods of time (over 2 GCD's) OR if you have no oGCD abilities to use, turn off Gauss Barrel. Otherwise leave it on
I dont know a fight where it is really neccessary to turn off your Gauss Barrell. 99% of all fights, you either just need to make a few steps during your GCD (or use Feint) or the boss become invincible/untargetable, so you can freely move without doing damage.
So, no need for stance dancing in my opinion.

it can be a dps increase to turn off gaus barrel too get off an attack u would have wi th a cast ti me so kinda apply that to whatever encounter ur in, in dungeons esp on bosses, when they r close to death the cast time will prevent u from getting another shot in on the boss. Also if heart break is off cd u want to use that as often as possible so it's smart to turn off gaus barrel to get that gcd in before boss dyes. If ur struggling with when to use reload and stuff like that l.. I don't know if u play warrior, but reload can be thought of as mch infuriate and wild fire their form of berserk. When they r not on cd u r loosing dps. If u don't play war then sorry for confusing u![]()
I've got my MCH to 60 last week. I'm a big noob in the case of DPS classes as I'm mainly a healer.
I don't want to change my main to DPS at all.
But I'm motivated to try out how much I can reach.
Currently my gear is not the best (Lodestone):
- Thordan Weapon i205
- Upgraded ESO head i210
- Void Arc pants i200
- Law ring i180
- and everything else is Alex normal i190
Overall iLvl is 193.
I'm using the opener of this thread and after that I'm still in trial and error.
The result I did today in one try on the dummy (solo, no food, no pots).
I have no clue how much room for improvement I can expect with the gear I currently wear.
If there is a more experienced MCH that still have the gear I currently use somewhere, I would like to know how much more output I can expect with that.

How important is quelling strikes for a machinist and when would be the proper time to use it. Want to level a machinist but have been trying to get raging strikes and hawkeye first and was just wondering should i pick up quelling along the way.
I use Quelling Strikes for leveling dungeons and trials just in case I'm pulling hate to easily. When I'm in level 60 content I replace it with Blood for Blood.
My CC setup is: Invigorate, Quelling Strikes, Raging Strikes, Hawks Eye, Feint (pre 60)
Invigorate, Raging Strikes, Hawks Eye, Feint, Blood for Blood (post 60)
Dropping Feint in favor of Quelling Strikes/Blood for Blood can be argued, but Feint is a great instant cast skill with Gauss Barrel is on.

Unless the tank is not doing their opener in tanking stance (with vit acessories) or failsucks at their job (or severely undergeared), you shouldn't have issues with ripping aggro on your MCH.
I never really find myself using feint; worse case scenario I just take off GB for one GCD to get a split shot + ammo and an auto attack. And you especially don't want to waste your ammo on feint. Once you know the fight, the need for long term mobility (at least to the point that stutter stepping or holding off of cleaner shots can't solve) is very far and few in between.
