    The naming of rdm actions

Does anyone else feel like the naming of some of Red Mage skills are a bit lazy?

The french touch on the weapon skills is pretty nice, but the the fact its elemental spells are simply just the spell name +ver.

I'm not really sure if this will affect me playing it, but it feels a bit of an oversight to me.

I don't see how they're lazily named. You don't exactly have to enjoy the Ver, but it's no different than Bar's, Ra's, Ga's, Ja's. If anything it's consistent.

The root 'ver' in English indicates 'true' and comes from latin roots. E.g. verdict, verisimilitude, verify.

I.e. Red Mages cast true fire, true aero, true flare, etc.

    I'm okay with that.

And as with any Final Fantasy theme, the more repeating letters means the more powerful the spell. Hopefully we get to see, Verververfire

Normally red mages have the exact same spell names as black and white mages, since they are the same spells and all. Since that's clearly not going to be happening here it makes sense they'd use similar names, modified to denote they are the red mage version.

I don't mind the RDM spell-naming convention. If anything it may be somewhat useful for players familiar with BLM and WHM, but new to RDM, since having basically the same spell names makes it extremely intuitive which are Black and which are White Mana.

I actually adore the usage of the Ver- forename for the spells on RDM. And not all of their WS's are of French origins.

Zwerchhau for instance is actually German, and is a German fighting stance in fencing, specifically with long swords.
    Zwerchhau (“Crosswise Strike”)

The Zwerch breaks the stance Vom Tag and all cuts that come from above, in addition to other Zwerchhauen. This is a multi-faceted strike, the targets of which include the head, the hands or the body. You can strike at any of the four openings with Zwerchhau, so long as you protect your head and face with your cross-guard. Think of it as a “helicopter rotor”, striking from left horizontal Ochs to right horizontal Ochs, making full use of the thumb-grip for leverage. You strike with the short edge from your right and the long edge from your left. This is a deceptively powerful strike and is easily the best representation of what the Meisterhauwen can really do in terms of power (use the hips!), geometry (every overhand cut is thwarted), and versatility of follow up (single-time attack, follow-up thrust, or twitch to the other side, high or low). Additionally, unlike a horizontal cut to the right side using the long edge, cutting with the short edge in a Zwerchau permits the hilt to remain defensively in front of the head and the left arm remains bent for delivering a thrust.

I just figured "ver" was short for "Vermillion" (as in "red").
