So I have a Gigabyte P35Wv2 laptop with these specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel i7-4710HQ
Nvidia 870M 6GB GDDR5
G-SKILL 16GB RAM

Since I've had this computer Final Fantasy has been a nightmare to deal with. I consistently have issues with the sound dropping out which is always a precursor to a framerate drop, then full animation and gameplay stop like my internet just died out (It didn't on 4 different connections in 2 different countries), then either a full game stop where i wait maybe 10-15 secs for the game to start playing again or a game crash. This has been a normal occurence for a while now. This game has been killing this laptop and I don't know why.

At first I installed it on my data drive, the second drive where all my games and data are. All of my other games are here and play fine. Except ffxiv. So one specific thing has happened twice that initially made me send the computer back to the builder for "repairs". My data drive when ffxiv crashed once my entire harddrive went with it. Like it vanished and completely stopped working. After three restarts it came back but that was it and I didn't trust the laptop prior to me getting it "repaired".

This recently happened again and this time i figured maybe that's the issue so I uninstalled the game from that drive and did a fresh reinstall on my OS drive. So now my game runs on my OS SSD drive. Now when the game does this sound drop instead of the animation stoppage or CTD the entirety of my computer freezes and windows refuses to work. As in i'll hit the windows key to have it come up and whatever other program i try to open freezes with ffxiv. This has happened 4 times in the last 2 days. So far this has always been in dungeons but i don't know if that's a coincidence or not.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what the actual problem is and how i can fix it?
