Feature Request: mounting on the move

Dear FFXIV team:

Please consider allowing players to mount their mounts while moving. It would remove a source of minor but (for me anyway) frequent annoyance from the game.

It's OK if whistling for the mount still has a channel time, that's cool, I just don't want the whistling interrupted because I move a little too soon.

I'd especially appreciate this feature when I am trying to get from node to node as quickly as I can while doing Ephemeral or Favor gathering.

To add to this: I would love to talk to NPCs while mounted and automatically dismount when initiating combat. It's a small thing but it would make FATE grinding that much smoother.

This is really needed. I never understood why I was forced to dismount my chocobo to talk to someone. If I can emote and use certain items while mounted, why not talk too?

There's lots of stuff like that: I can change clothes and class while mounted, but I cannot active Truth of the Mountains/Forests.
I can repair gear in the middle of combat (been there, done that) but not while mounted.
And so on.

I'll understand if this behavior is an artifact of simplifying the code that determines what can be done when (e.g. "no channeling while moving"), but I'd really like to be able to whistle for my chocobo while I run.

Kudos to the FFXIV team for letting us teleport mounted BTW, that was awesome, even if we cannot do it while moving.

It's to stop people from blocking the NPCs when mounted so people are unable to click them, they should have just made the "confirm" under rebinding keys more prevalent so people don't have to click on NPCs but use a hotkey instead. Put it in the tutorial, or a hovering icon when approaching an NPC like some MMOs do. I was surprised about how many didn't notice this when a few people were blocking the NPCs with mounts during the release of Alexander.

The problem with that reasoning is that mounts make no difference in ppl blocking out NPCs (or anything else, really, like retainer bells).

Also: while at it, how about removing the stupid gysahl greens and freeing up an inventory slot?

Yes, it does make a difference. I sometimes have trouble clicking on a retainer bell because so many people hover on it. Mounts are the same problem with NPCs.

This always seemed a little backwards to me. Get bumped from my bird for a relaxing chat, but "oh hell naw I'm gonna sit pretty up here while you all fight that thing." until you actively say, "I suppose i'll get down now."
