I feel you and agree completely that we do seem a sub-par crafting. Being on the same server, I can confirm that mats are extremely expensive. Nonetheless we, as botanists, can gather most of the materials fairly easily, in HQ ! I also levelled my leatherworker and alchemist to 60 a few weeks ago, and it was an absolute nightmare compared to levelling culinarian. Because every single material needed to craft leather and gear requiere a way higher amount of time than we do as botanists, for an equal result (rng-wise) or even less.

The only thing that really bugs me about the scrip system is about the drop ratio from the mobs on the map, which is insanely low. There are a couple of solutions for us, culinarian. I check the marketboard everyday, many times a day, and farm the materials for a couple of hours to craft an item that only few players are selling and/or that sell high enough.

There are many meals on Moogle, that you can craft easily to HQ and that can sell within the range 35>55k. This is how you can earn some gils (and save it ? or reinvest into red-scrips materials, as some other players suggested)

Having botany at 60 is a must-have for every culinarian these days. And it was the case in Realm Reborn too. Except it didn't feel like mandatory, as ARR botany materials were selling low - and that will eventually happen for HW mats too.

See the bright way. You can make profit today. You may not, tomorrow.
