Hairstyle Contest winners announced!

how is that even kind of close?
everything about it is different except the back having a high puffed up ponytail

1) Both have side bangs, with the runner up having slightly longer ones
2) Has a puffed up ponytail
3) have braids encompassing the head, just the hair style runner up has one of the braids flowing to the side
4) Both look like high school prom/wedding hairstyles
5) They're both blonde l0l

as I said, its not EXACTLY the same but the resemblance is uncanny. I mainly bring up this argument because everyone is hating on the side ponytail as being a rehashed lightning hairstyle and finding the runner more 'original' where in reality neither of them are that original, JUST SAIYEN

What i'm not understanding is why did the one with more votes not win? don't that mean more ppl wanted it? this Contest was dealt with very badly i love SE and all but why call this a contest :P heyy you got the most votes but too bad troll face

If you missed it, it was stated in the rules for voting that only your last vote cast counts towards the winning piece. In other words one vote per person. A good portion of people didnt bother reading the rules and voted multuple times.

Of course, the smart thing to do would be to have it so that you were only able to vote for one, rather than just using the like function in a way it doesn't work well for, but thats for SE to put an actual polling system on the forums.

It was a fundamental issue with the fact that they wanted to use the official forums because it could eliminate bogus votes. The problem? It does not have a polls system, only a Like system so that was essentially the only way to make their contest work. Going off-site is hard because they can't verify the results as well.

If people had comprehended the rules the first time it would be a non-issue but because of that their forums system allowed for this. I don't expect them to come up with a much better plan. We still have /10char and issues with post length -_-

I cannot agree more with the confusion of this, even their vote numbers are off... total votes were NOT that low by the 6th and I'm a bit disappointed but it seems like that wasn't what they were going off of.... I guess...

I'm going to be honest and say that i don't think people voted for the flower.

I voted for it because it was simple, nice looking, and it doesn't resemble something we already have.

In fact, i don't think i've seen anyone say anything akin to "Oh my goodness that flower is the greatest thing since sliced bread"

Not to seem salty but I didn't vote for it because it was too simple, it doesn't stand out to me. It's beautiful don't get me wrong but I don't see myself wearing the hairstyle on my Lalafell or if I went any other race but Hyur, maybe my feelings will change when I see it implemented and it'll be a hairstyle I really like but for now I'm just super disappointed and confused.

Also I personally feel it was chosen because of the simple aspect of it, I had a gut feeling 16 would get shafted just due to the fact that it was more complicated but I suppose congratulations to the winners either way.

This is the Beta forums all over again, mostly middle fingers and angry rhetorical questions. How about we applaud those who won cause the only reason they did win is because people actually voted for them. Even if they did vote for themselves that's only one out of thousands. So clap, be happy for the winners and hope we get another contest in the future. And no, this isn't a discussion because there's nothing to discuss. We have our winners, decided democratically.

I'm slightly annoyed that I cast my votes before SE bothered to inform us that only the last vote counted. I liked 2 of the entries, had I known this, I would had only liked the male runner-up hairstyle. Of course the last page hairs would win when this sort of rule is implemented and announced when a lot of people have already voted... I think the voting should be done again to see which hairstyle would actually and fairly win. This was in no way fair to the people who entered the contest, the real winner now probably lost because people were no informed about the rules properly.

A lot of the hairs weren't original hairstyles like they were supposed to be, a couple hairs were removed because of oversight so we lost out on some hairs that could have been (and probably lost some votes), and yeah they kinda botched the rules on how voting works until clarifying halfway through. They also should have made it a rule to where contestants had to use the head models they provided so the art didn't have as much influence over the actual haircut.

I mean I appreciate them doing something like this, but wow this could have been handled so much better.

We have our winners when a decent portion of the votes were counted differently than intended. Its like asking which ice creams do you like and then only counting the last bubble you filled out. And then two days after the initial question, they snuck in a little bit of text a few days later that says "oh btw, your last bubble was the only one we counted." When I voted I was like "ooh ill just click on everything I like because that makes sense." and I didn't even hear about the rule until after voting was closed. Congrats to the "winners", but the way they did the voting was really not great.
