What am I complaining about? Please quote me where I am complaining. I am giving suggestions on how to improve the game as are others. Asking and suggesting to the devs to add variety of content is complaining? Really starting to wonder if this is a troll.I don't understand why some continue to stick around after they waited for sooo long and continue to complain; no one has a gun to their head telling them that have to stay. Players come and go. There are other MMOs that may be even better than FFXIV and probably could satisfy them way more than this game. Apparently, they still have that hope in there somewhere, so they can wait a little longer.![]()

Most that throw out the quit card, myself included, aim it at folks who are unreasonably making "do or die" comments. Pretty much what you're doing lol. Sample size or not, it's one or the other to you people. It's meaningless to consider the reality of a situation where a handful of people on a forum... A FORUM... are being told to quit by other players (temporarily, if not permanently). You know what happens on the daily? People quit. The opposite is also true, in that people join. You, and the sample size population, are not important in reality.
Yeah for real if this doesn't change I think they are going to see a lot more subs drop sadly.![]()
For all the people who use the "if you don't like it, quit" argument to this sort of topic..
We don't quit because we believe in this game's potential. FFXIV has got to be the most graphically gorgeous game that is on the market. The world is absolutely beautiful. The music is generally amazing. The story is incredible.
I love FFXIV. But damnit, I'm sick of all the "new content" being different versions of the old content. The dungeon model used in this game is old, and stale, and boring. Does it matter what the next dungeon is going to be? Probably not. Why? Because it's (likely) going to be pull some trash, fight a boss, pull some trash, fight a boss. SE is capable of more, because they've already demonstrated it with FFXI. That's why we expect more.
This game has massive potential that isn't being capitalized on because it has fallen into a repetitive cycle of releasing dungeons and raids that are rehashed versions of the same things we already have. We vocalize our misgivings because we want developers to hear us and perhaps act on what we are saying.

Ah, but will facing north-by-northeast at 2:45 a.m. while the moon is a waning crescent result in a 27% increase in your chances to synthesize HQ mythril ingots!? That is real the question! ~Fernehalwes~
Every single game, movie, idea, etc ever has potential. I dare say, massive potential. Your saying that means next to nothing, when you really stop to think about it. I think everyone can agree about having a desire for variety. The reality though is that they want to create something different from FFXI, at least where possible. That's not easy to do. When you're late to the "game" that is development, unique ideas take time to not only obviously finish creating, but to even come up with plausibly. Even if they wanted to take in the time or loot system, it's not that simple. You need to develop that into the server/systems, you need to create the story, the art, the loot, the mobs, the way players interact with it, etc. None of that is a simple task that can be accomplished in a matter of days. Planning can sometimes take just as long, if not longer, than the actual creation process that follows. If you've ever worked in a department of a large corporation, you'll also know that you sometimes need to go through multiple channels to get an OK or whatever for a go-ahead on something. That uncommonly happens within a day.For all the people who use the "if you don't like it, quit" argument to this sort of topic..

Now, that's not to say I don't agree with you on some things. I firmly believe that they are aware of a need for variation, but have to also commit to already-planned content that uses that repetitive cycle. The best they can do, in that light, is to alter boss mechanics, which is what it feels like they're stuck on when it comes to "variety". There's also the need to consider that combat is far from the only form of content they have to develop. While you might be crying about a need of combat variety, others are crying about other things, such as crafting, housing, and vertical gear progression. While the sky might seem to be falling for you and those other folks in various areas, it doesn't mean its falling for everyone else... at least not so quickly to assume panic is needed.
If only they can expand dungeon content into the open uninstanced world.
I don't even bother getting esoterics anymore. The gear will be obsolete with the next patch anyway because of zero horizontal progression. Plus I think I got plenty of treadmill exercise in ARR.
These days, I only log on to do my leveling, trials, and guildhest roulettes to help level battle classes to 60. Takes an hour or two maybe. Then i log off. I also check retainers every once in a while and get my mini cactpot, but I don't feel the need to log on every day to do these menial tasks.
Haven't bothered leveling DoH or DoL outside of some of the large scale leves, mainly to burn leve allowances because it feels so wasteful when I'm at 100 for weeks. I read on the forums here about people complaining about caps on scrips and whatnot, yet I have no idea what scrips are, what they are for, or how to acquire them.
I should also say that I've yet to do any Alex Savage. Heck, I haven't even beaten Ravana EX yet. I only found a party to attempt it one time over a month ago, and now when I do get online I see no mention of it in DF anymore. Meh. I'm not complaining, just stating my experience. TBH, I don't really care to bother with the "endgame" anymore. It's just not attractive to grind for the gear I guess.
I feel like I used to be hardcore in 1.0 and ARR. I wanted to log in all the time and work on improving my character. I had everything at level 50 quite a ways before ARR came out. I even acquired a relic in 1.0. I tried to stay on top of coil as best I could, beat first 2 turns before echo and the final shortly after. But now in Heavensward I just feel like, blah. Am I lazy, or am I just getting old and have better things to do with my life?
Nope, no trolls here. How some people are suggesting on what SE needs to do talk like as if SE is not doing anything at all. Come on now. The material that you guys are asking/suggesting for may take the devs a lot of time to develop and test; cross fingers and hope that it will actually works because if it doesn't then what? What more do you want?

[super inactive on this Forum LOL]
It's most likely the latter. There are far more influences around us that determine how fast we change our opinions or experience burnout than most people realize, particularly if you compare the current decade and the past. The truly foolish actually fail to understand why certain things they found fun over 20 years ago are no longer fun now... not even contemplating the possibility that, you know, we naturally change our perspectives as we get older or gain more experience. Often, these people blame everyone else, thinking there's always some reason that isn't them.I don't even bother getting esoterics anymore. Truth be told, I'm right there with you... but I've been that way for many years. For FFXIV 2.0-current, I think I've capped weekly tomes two... maybe three times? The typical endgame has never been something I strived for since my laidback attitude towards MMORPGs came about. I used to be very dedicated to WoW and FFXI, often to the point of literal headaches from doing vanilla WoW AV PvP to upkeep honor ranking (literally needed to play 10-20hrs a day non-stop to reach high ranks) and idle blank stares waiting 10hrs for an NM/HNM to spawn in FFXI (this was before the window intervals were discovered or made known). My endgame for this game is literally the tomes, usually, and my over a decade-long tradition to focus on crafting in MMORPGs. Heck, 4man dungeons and occasional PvP can be considered my "normal" endgame, in that light... at least until 24man content.
