"Johnny-come-latelies", really? So you're better then everyone who came into this game after you? Way to demean and trivialize a whole group of people while elevating yourself solely based on something so trivial as joindate. By your own logic, you're a Johnny-come lately compared to me.
And while people may understand the concept of "missing out" on a digital event, that doesn't mean they can't voice their opinions on it, nor does it mean they should just give up on them. Until a dev chimes in, the option is still on the table. Not to mention, some of those people who understand the concept might still actual want the pieces.
Not to mention your two other examples, the Legacy Goubbue and the Horn aren't good examples. They already have an alternative to the Legacy Goubbue from the Sylph beast tribe quest and that horn has a small, niche audience versus the Lightning Strikes event items, which are pure fan service and much more easier to make nice outfits with.

As to your point that is actually on topic, that's why I initially said this:

If you want a similar event, then ask for a new event with similar items just like the 1.0/2.0 comparison.

How about they add a recolored or dye-able version to the gold saucer so ALL players having something new to work for. Why not create content that everyone can appreciate instead of just rehashing the old rewards? Also, nice job ignoring this:

Some food for thought. First and foremost, SE is a business. I am sure the idea has been discussed internally about putting those DQ/lightning event items in the cash shop. They probably have some justification as to why they are not in there right now. It's not like this thread was a brand new idea they would have not thought of themselves. I would bet irl money that they talked about selling the items, but decided not to because they might bring the event back in the future or they wanted to retire the promotion of ff13/DQ.

Either way, they have a reason of some sort, just have to deal with it.

You're fooling yourself if you don't think this debate already happen internally. They likely considered most of the points we have all listed here and made up their minds.
