Well,

Regarding future of PS3 version:

•Do you plan to continue to support the PS3 version even after the PS4 version is released?
Y: At this moment, we've already begun work on the expansion pack, and I can tell you that at the very least the PS3 version will be supported up to that point.
•Does that mean there's a possibility that PS3 users will no longer be able to continue playing beyond that expansion?

Y: It may be a possibility in the future.
•How far off in the future are we talking about here?

Y: That will depend on how long people continue to play on the PS3. I've mentioned in the presentation this morning that I want to make sure that "FFXIV continues to innovate", and there's certainly the possibility that whatever innovation we seek will come with certain technical requirements. For example in EQN, which I mentioned earlier, it would not be possible to realize certain things like physic-based gameplay without meeting the hardware prerequisites. So if this becomes something that players want and we start to see people leave for rival products, then we can't just sit around twiddling our thumbs either. After all, we too need to ensure we have the necessary weapons to take on other MMORPGs in the future.

For example, if we were to have a large-scale FATE where players can ride on a flying mount and freely fly around and swoop down at a dragon that is 200 meters long, players would probably be impressed and entertained. However, it would also require us to raise the minimum requirement when it comes to hardware specs.

Our aim has always been to develop the game so that players can have the same experience no matter which hardware they play on. However, if we were to become too fixated on this and become unable to innovate, then this will cease to be a FF game. So I do not plan to say that we will support the PS3 version forever. At the same time, I'm not saying that we'll be ending support by next year or anything like that either, so don't worry.

That was in 2013. In the mean time, they decided not to add new egis because they would bring nothing new from a gameplay perspective, and instead add a pet glamour function because that would be the only point of more egis (apart from taking new spells slots from actual new spells).

Now the glamour stuff got delayed, but it will come eventually, just like the primal summoning by FCs will eventually come at some point.

Like my opinion is going to matter, but I'm tired of this topic keep coming up. :/ I'm playing on PS3 and I don't see anything wrong with that. I really don't want to be forced to upgrade and buy both the games again just so I could play. The people who say that they should drop PS3 support, I guess, just want to leave people out of a great game and can't even afford a PS4 at the moment. I sure can't. I actually got a new PS3 not that long ago (was playing on my brother's for awhile). You'd need a PS3 to play your old PS3 games, anyway since PS4 is not backwards compatible. I'd like it be a couple more years before they drop it and hopefully have a PS4 at that time.

In the mean time, let me enjoy the game on PS3 without having to worry about not being able to play at some point.

Irrelevant , my original post said that I have issues trusting what they say, because they say one thing and do another. That was me showing why. No one can really convince me otherwise and is moot lol.

Well for the ones that play on PS3 that will suck for them but Yoshi-p has already stated that they not going to guarantee the support of the PS3. Not like this is going to happen next month of anything but my suggestion would be if you could, start preparing to be able to move to either PS4 or PC instead of waiting around till you are forced to in what ever time frame that may be.

Oh well. To be frank, I don't care that you can't deal right now, especially with the silly "you just wanna leave people out, waaaah" pov which ignores what dropping PS3 support is actually about. It's not some case of the big bad other platform players not liking you, it's that holding back the game for a nearly decade-old machine is ludicrous. Many players on PSU said the same thing about the PS2 for that game, that it really should've been dropped for the good of the game (including many PS2 players, believe it or not) and they were right. PS3 is little more than an anchor around this game's neck at this point, and it's barely playable ON PS3, especially for anything with a high number of players. And much the same way as you wanna just enjoy the game, so do I. But for me, that means not hearing "PS3 limitations lol" or code for it in every other question a dev answers about a prospective feature.

tl;dr it's incredibly dumb to just recently get a last-gen system and whine that every player of a current-gen game should expect to be fine waiting on you.

They aren't going to drop support midway through an expansion that people on PS3 paid money for. That's how you piss people off and lose customers.

To people unable to afford a PS4, if you save a dollar a day starting today, you will probably have enough to afford a PS4 especially if the price drops by the time 4.0 comes around. They have been saying since early 2.0 that they won't guarantee that PS3 will he supported for long because it is limiting the game, and they have already set 4.0 as when they are considering dropping it. They have been warning you for two years now.

You will not regret switching to a PS4.

I swear I said this a few days ago, but I will say it again. Genius idea. Delete console players from the equation and limit your audience, that will bring in more money and sales. Why don't you take Yoshi-P's position since you seem to know how to run this game better than him?

Not like the ending support for it next month, you can't afford to put away some money every month to prepare for the future? If so how manage to pay your sub every month?
