    DRG PvP (PS4)

Hey, looking for tips for DRG PVP. I play on PS4, this is important because of my hotbars and lack there of. While essentially I have 16 slots per hotbar, if I need to swap it creates quite the delay because I think about the button combo (hold R1 and press the correct hotbar, usually square), then I let go of r1, and press either r2 or l2 for the hotbar and honestly, it just creates delay, doable, but delayed.

What do other DRGs on PS4 use in PVP, is it worth keeping on Heavy Swing? Is Disembowel worth trying to stack? I like the chaos thrust combo, but I'm not doing it for the debuff, I just love the DOT.

I have three slots for full thrust, 3 slots for chaos thrust, 3 slots for jumps (dragon fire, jump, and the one that stuns), piercing talon, blood for blood, leg sweep, invigorate (this one can go, it's there for sprinting and recovery), sprint, the PVP heal skill, and PVP cure control effects.

I feel like I'm fumbling around to find what I need to be devastating.

I did a little PVP on my DRG back when Borderland Ruins was the big bad boy in town and I didn't have very many problems with this. Even now with my Level 60 PLD in Seal Rock I don't have that hard a time.

I play on PC, but I use an xbox controller. It should still be similar. When I first set up my hotbars, it was with PvP in mind. Works perfect for PvE too. I'm used to it by now, but I never have any delay problems. This is how I have my controller set up. Check out this video if you want to see me PvPing using the setup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3f4g6WNjmE Also did a couple DRG threads a few pages back.
    • R1 + X [Crossbar 1]
    • R1 + A [Crossbar 2]
    • R1 + B [Crossbar 3]
    • R1 + Y [Crossbar 4]
    • Hold R2 --then--> L2 [brings up half of Crossbar 3] (while on any crossbar)
    • Hold L2 --then--> R2 [brings up other half of Crossbar 3] (while on any crossbar)

From the picture you can see I don't like the crossbar displayed. Instead I have all my actions laid out on hotbars. Not sure if you can do this on console. I just keep the actual crossbar minimized in the lower left hand corner, and it only shows while being used.

The most used actions should be on your 1st Crossbar. The 2nd crossbar has the rest. On my 4th crossbar I put the stuff that's not so common, which are my AoE attacks and Limit Break. My 3rd crossbar (across almost all my jobs) have my defensive cooldowns and purify. I mainly only switch from 1 and 2, and sometimes 4 for LB'ing. Never on 3 since I access that crossbar using the double trigger method.

For all my jobs, I make sure certain actions are always in the same area or spot. Like purify, sprint, defensive stuff, heals, combo's, etc. My whole crossbar set up on DRG is tailored for how I burst in PvP. I find that's the best way to arrange it. For example, I'm leveling WAR up now. I have my actions arranged temporarily, but once I hit 60 I'm going to find the optimal way to burst, and set up my crossbar as efficiently as possible.

Just keep in mind which ones you're using the most, their cooldown times, and pretty much just how smooth it feels when you're playing the job.

I only ever use the Chaos Thrust combo during my burst. Whether it's worth keeping up heavy swing is hard to answer. I don't keep it in my mind to always have it up, but I'll use it if there's a free chance to, like a SMN's pet is coming my way I'll Heavy Thrust it first before I go further and attack someone.

While you're playing DRG in PvP, just think in terms of burst. Like always following up a Life Surged Full Thrust with a Power Surged Jump. Small tricks like these will help you get kills on enemies with low health.

    Excellent! Thanks!!

I was watching your video and saw how fast you were switching hotbars. You said what made the most sense to me. Arrange my hotbars similarly on every class. Since I play DRG, WAR, SCH, SMN, AST switching classes always throws me off and I'm not learning the simple things like sprint is always in a different place, my WAR and DRG both use the monks evasive ability, but it's in different spots per class. I think having some uniformity will make memory much faster and transitions to different hotbars much more smooth!
