Is your UI user friendly? I use shift, alt, and ctrl to switch between 3 tiers of skills all on 1-6. this allows me to have each tier being a different part of my rotation and it's easy to see all of my CD's at a glance. Not worrying about where my hand placement is to hit the right skill is also a big deal. If 99% of the time you're confident with what button to hit next without hawk eyeing your bar or your hands then you're fine. But if you're ever wondering where you are at in your rotation or which button is where on your keys I suggest trying to map out a better layout.

Thanks guys. I had completely forgotten to keep an eye on Dervy's videos to see if he had a tip video. I try to apply all my dots and blast him with a gierskogul before boost. Sometimes timing doesn't quite work out and I miss out on a phleb. Clearly I need to pay much closer attention to timers and learn them a little better.

As for UI. I play PS4 and flick between two crossbars using L1. My main combos and skills are on the buttons (Full Thrust combo being on page 1 and Chaos Thrust combo on page 2) which leaves me able to run about as I please whilst attacking. lesser used oGCDs and buffs are on the directional pad. Possibly not the best overall as on occasion I have been confused by what page I'm on on the crossbar when raid drags on and I end up half doing the wrong combo.

But thanks again guys. Definitely going to take those tips and try to apply them in the next few runs.

just some rule of thumbs im afraid, a lot of it is fight dependent
Usually when it is straight off cooldown (barring exceptional corner cases like some A5S transitions) unless you are only gonna get a couple of seconds of usage and/or the phase transition is a lot shorter than 1 minute. Only other rule of thumb is try to delay by half a GCD to activate (provided you aren't double weaving with something more valuable like BfB) so that you can squeeze an extra GCD within its duration.

I knwo this was answered already, but my DPS on A5S skyrockted when our whole group used their full openers and pushed the first "Prey" phase & first bird phase. Even though he is big and you're doing slightly less dmg, you get to wail on him that much longer. Although, I dont get to buff my dps by aoe-ing the pigs because I have to kill the bomb tossing goblin on the other side of the map

Also you shouldn't be switching between crossbars too often. I would highly recommend setting up your cross hotbars (L2+R2) for your Fang, Claw, Geirg, and BoTD. I keep my TTT, IDC, HT, PH, all jumps (except elusive), and all buffs (except littany) on my first page. Defensive CDs, 3min CDs, Mercy Stroke, Invg, etc are all on 2nd hotbar.

Anyone else here playing on high latency? I'm playing with around 250 ms ping to my server, and I'm thinking of adjusting my build to include for skill speed to compensate for my lag.

Time for some analysis, someone please tell me if I'm doing something wrong:

From what I understand, the whole point of shooting for 2.4s GCD is so that HT clips with itself. Now, if I want to be 250 ms ahead on my clipping, I need to save 250ms over 10 GCDs, which means I need a GCD of 2.4 - (0.25 /10 ) = 2.375s

Then, reversing the skill speed formula gives (2.50245-2.375) / 0.0003776 + 354 = 692 SS

Probably want to go higher than that to give myself some margin of safety for variance in ping time. Aside from the obvious TP issues I will run into, is there anything else to consider once my SS gets this high?

Hello 1st time posting here, so I stopped playing a couple weeks before 3.3 came out and just came back to the game about 5 days ago. I was getting myself ready to tackle A5s etc but unfortunately had to stop playing but this is what I left off with gear wise http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/V66Z . I actually followed someones build from this thread that seemed ok to get into savage content. I've been reading around and seems like the 230 chest from weeping is ideal now? My question is, is this gear i have good enough for now or can someone recommend a different build that's solid until I can start hitting savage content and getting drops?

Double weaving will definitely clip. Just do know that if you pop BfB after Impulse Drive on the opener, it will not catch the 4th with that latency.

If you want fight specific stuff, look up Zibe Aeron on behemoth, FFlogs. He probably has the highest DPS of any Single Weave DRG I've ever seen.
