((250+290*1.1)+180+220)*1.15 = 1114.35. That's 2 ticks.

You're never going to get more than 6 GCDs on an Orb. If it takes 6 GCDs to kill one of those Alpha Orbs, your group does not have the DPS to do the fight. The Orbs should always be dead at most, after your 4th, as there's 4 DPS, 1 SCH and 2 Tanks in the room who should/can attack.

Yea, Mini correct this, if you assume IDC on each mob, the impulse drive and disembowel do not benefit from 10% piercing, only the following CT and 4th

what did you guys meld to the i230 slip gloves? I went with crit V and accuracy V but maybe I'll need to go 2x accuracy V. or should I save melding accuracy for other gear?

I think you are wrong here.
Chaos Thrust and 4º do +10% damage BOTH, i mean, If you do
(250+290*1.1) You are only increasing 4º, not Chaos Thrust hit.

(250+290)*1.1 = 594
(594 + 180 + 220)*1.15=1143.

Ah yeah, you're right. I just saw what I did wrong with my own calculation.

Yeah, you're right. If a tick goes off, then it will be more potency. Either way, my point still stands. The balls should not live more than 4 GCDs with 2 people attacking it, or long enough for that last tick to hit.W hen you apply Chaos Thrust, there's a 1.265s delay before the DoT is registered on the mob. 1.135s later, your 4th hit should be going off, at which point it should be dead (or overkilled). That's 1.135/3 = 37.833% chance of a Tick going off in between the CT -> 4th window. So if you want to play with 42% chance odd of getting higher potency, that's your choice.

Random pointless thought: on some level, consider whether your caster is a BLM or a SMN. If BLM, they're stealing from you. If SMN, you're stealing from them. There's also the matter of overkill and Life Surge crits. I've gone mostly IDC out of habit more than anything, though; I like the relative consistency anyway.

Another pointless thought: I'd always thought of Phlebotomize as less TP-efficient than Thrust combo from a most unfortunate Paeon-less time progressing SCoB, but these days it's 427/90 = 4.74444444 vs. 1100 / 250 = 4.4 potency/TP.

I wouldn't say its pointless. It's something I've noticed as well, I'm supposed to be paired with a SMN, yet frequently I'm having to help the other side who're slow on their adds. MCH is obsessed with slowing/stunning the Betas, leaving me and the Nin to clean up the mess (as well as help the SMN on my own side). It might be worth me considering IDC4 because of the front loaded nature of the first two attacks compared to TT and VT. Either way, my group has a lot of practice to do.

For those who are searching how to optimize their DPS in SSS i think i did a good job with A8S SSS, just because i have normal equipment (i223 and weapon i220 from Sephi) and for A8S SSS I had to adjust every CD.
