How to Dragoon per Second: A DPS Paradigm

Hey, My DRG is 214, and i'm doing maybe 1450dps:ish on SSS A5S; need 1486 to break it. FC NIN gets like 1550 and tells me i should be higher than NIN. are DRG supposed to be stronger than NIN? cause i can't see how i would possibly be able to increase my DPS by 100+, aside from getting multiple ilv230 pieces. I have seph spear, and bought slip helm and eikon boots, should i be doing like 1600dps?

I'm at 212 and failed it at 3-4%, which the Stone Sky Sea calculator puts me at 1,440dps. But I do NOT have Sephirot EX weapon and I did not use food or pots. So I don't know if +1 WD will equal out to about the same dps increase but I'm still not close to 1485. I actually failed it at 4% previously before I even got any of the Midas drops, so it seems odd that even 3 new pieces didn't help my dps that much besides maybe 1 extra percent.


I asked if any other dps in my FC beat the test and I believe it was a MCH, then I asked if they used food and pots and they said no. They need to do 1286 apparently, but since it is relative to the job I don't know if that is an excuse for why I'm somehow not able to beat it but they can. I feel like I'm doing everything correctly.

- Weapon = 210 Brionac
- Head = 210 Esoterics
- Body = 210 Esoterics
- Hands = 220 Midan (no melds)
- Waist = 210 Esoterics
- Legs = 210 Mistbreak (+37 acc, +34 crit, +49 det, +78 skl spd)
- Feet = 220 Midan Boots (no melds)
- Necklace = 210 Esoterics
- Earrings = 210 Mistbreak (+15 crit, +16 det, +32 skl spd)
- Bracelet = 210 Esoterics
- Ring 1 = 210 Esoterics
- Ring 2 = 220 Midan Ring (no melds)

I never did the previous Savage so I can't min/max and this all puts me way over the presumed acc cap for A5S which sure isn't helping me any.

I tried to switch out my Mistbreak legs for Esoteric legs for less acc and more crit but it didn't seem to make a noticeable difference.

well the HP of dummy is based on job, so his dummy got even less HP, so he needs less DPS to clear it, but does 100dps more, so he's quite a lot stronger. I had seph wep, he had 210 wep, and still was at around 1550. Now he got seph wep, and several 220 melded pieces, so he's probably 1600+ at this time.
Even after i got seph wep, 230 helm, 220 boots, it didn't change my DPS by much.
i'm not using pots or food, no melds. It's probably more micro managing rotation, but i don't know if i can squeeze out 100 more dps by that.

ya it's basically same for me - it's just a few points of DPS increase, and i'm still stuck at 3-5% at A5S SSS, before and after upgrades.
