in SusEx, for example, if the dps was too fast on the sword phase, I wouldn't get to replen on BotD because i wouldnt get my combo finisher. So i was forced to wait until I had 1 second before applying BotD just to keep my eyes. Its not hard, but really annoying.
Although Dervy has stated an interest in continuing to theorycraft DRG, I have taken matters into my own hands and started a 4.0 guide/thread. It is incomplete for the moment, and writing guides is a new thing to me, but it is my sincere hope that for some players it answers some good questions and raises other good questions. As such, any corrections and suggestions you may have might not be incorporated in the best possible way, but they are all appreciated nonetheless.

Hi guys , first time posting here. Just want to know if anyone is aware that pressing BOTD while in LOTD replaces LOTD with BOTD? that has got to be a bug right? I'm pretty sure nothing happens when you press BOTD while in LOTD in the previous patch.
It was working like that since the launch of 4.0. Using BotD gives you Blood, which will override Life if you hit it
Don't think it's a bug for the reason that after 3 nastronds you might still be on 5-6 seconds of Lotd and sitting on WT or FC at that timing. Botd gives you the option to override the useless Lotd ticks and extend your Botd. Although on the other hand even if you don't get WT FC in before lotd ends you cam still pop Botd if needed later. *shrugs* just personal preference
Always been like that. Sometimes when I know I won't need to reuse BOTD I just use it when I'm about to hit my WT / FNC and I have some time left in LOTD after I used my 3rd Nastrond to max. out the BOTD duration. It's not really necessary since LOTD will always revert you back to a 15-sec BOTD timer anyway.
So is direct hit broken to the point where a det/dh piece would outweigh a crit/det piece of armor?
If you are gunning for low low low low low SS at i340: at the moment, it would appear CH > DH >= Det. This is because it is possible to stack >2000 crit mostly at the expense of SS (ignore any analysis on Reddit if it claims the threshold is much higher than that; a lot of those did not account for how secondaries boost each other slightly, and to their credit the most legit posts I've seen even outright say "but these are not weights"). The total gains from doing this would appear to be very small, so small that I'm not yet sure if stat tiering doesn't throw it off.
If not, DH > Det > CH seems safer and people will not look at you weird.

I am also curious about this. Whats the minimum ss we should have when thinking of optimizing melds/gear. Thanks!
I was wondering the same thing so I unequipped all my gear and got down to the 400 SS range. I was surprised, it feels awesome. You can weave mirage and jumps so smoothly as well as buffs. You don't feel that "lock". I'd say, don't worry about it at all, the lower the better, at least for me! (also means less clipping on Chaos Thrust)
