I don't know if I should report this as a bug but I'm wondering if this is something specific to rp, /em chat (though I know it's happened in /s)...but sometimes when you type lengthy posts in the chat box and press enter, it will show up for you but no one else in /s /em range can see it and you can't just retype it. You have to change what your wrote 'cause if you copy and paste it, it will be like some "trigger" word or words is causing the glitch and it won't accept the words in that order.

So yeah...I am on Balmung and I now that myself and other RPers fear this glitch, resorting to telling each other number of posts after we're done 'cause we never know...there's no way to predict it.

I wonder if SE knows about this as bug...or has ever addressed it. If they have or anything, I'm curious. But I am also curious if this is just a Balmung issue or if other people have encountered this in weird ways....etc.

I guess if enough people say something, I can report it as a bug...but I am not sure if it is even a bug? Yeah >>

I am not sure about the details since I've never really type lengthy posts that much but what I do know is :

If something is designed to do what it is designed for and is not delivering what it should have been, then either it's limitations, or a bug, with the latter being the cause on most occasion.

Unless I'm wrong since I'm not knowledgeable enough about text limits.

EDIT: Adding personal experience

Not sure if this fits the bill, but sometimes when I'm changing zones (In the loading screen) to another area/dungeon/raid, and I'm typing to the party/linkshell/FC, my typed text chat disappeared when I pressed Enter. It will still show up if I press Enter + Up Arrow (Repeat) though.

This happened to me another day but I forgot about it! I was typing in party chat during raid to ask something from my healer partner and the message completely disappeared 3 times. Tried copy-paste and tried placing the message in quotes, no one else could see it. I think I rewrote the whole thing in the end and it got through. Was weird.

My message wasn't long, maybe 2 lines.

I had it happen to me with Say chat disappearing for the first time two days ago....usually it's just /em

I've had a similar experience, before. I think it's some sort of word-ban list or something going a little haywire, because I determined the cause to be a specific phrase in the message I was sending. If I took that phrase out or used a synonymous phrase, then the message would send fine, but putting the phrase back as it was would cause it to break again.

I wish I would have recorded this particular instance. Would have been good to have the example.

This was months ago, though. I forgot all about it until I read this thread.

There is indeed a word filter that causes your messages to only show for you when it's triggered. It's for RMT filtering, but naturally it gets bypassed soon enough, having it work silently makes it work a bit longer until the RMT companies change their ad.

Yeah, usually I'll just retype everything with different but similar wording and that fixes the problem but it's still really annoying.
