Well the issue lies in how the companion system is coded. They literally count as a party member, instead of how minions or combat pets work. For example, if I have my chocobo out, my husband is unable to invite me to a party, because the game thinks I am "already in a party". This is a huge design mistake, but I don't think it has anything to do with memory limitations. Just a massively short-sighted coding decision that they really need to fix ASAP. It's not okay when you have game systems that conflict so horribly with each other.

The most straightforward (at least design-wise) solution I've been able to come up with is code Companions in the same way as combat pets, but add a code that force despawns them when you enter an instance.
