leveling a alt 50% bonus as long as it is under your alts lvl?

I have a lvl 43 white mage, and want to level a bard for farming.

So I will get a bard to lvl 40 or such so I can farm easier, than the slow killing white mage, my question is, is bard good at killing fast. And will I get the bonus or do I have to hit level 50 for the bonus?

As long as the class is lower than your highest level class, you will get the bonus.

The bonus below level 50 is 100% and after level 50, it's 50%.

Thanks a lot, there seems to be this weird rumour that you need to get level 50 for the 100% bonus, but thanks a lot!

All classes below your highest level get a 50% bonus. Any class below level 50 gets another 50% bonus and it is cumulative, hence the 100% bonus as said by Secret.

Bard is a pretty fast dps and is really good for kiting because so many of its attacks can be done while moving. The kiting is especially useful when you're solo-ing and shouldn't be a problem if you're not leveling it past 50, where you start getting more stationary.

A summoner is also good, especially if you have a healing chocobo. With the tanking summon and your chocobo out, you have a self-sustainble party on your own.
