Well, there's a reason why they reduced it from three dungeons to two. The only problem is nobody wants to see if the tradeoff will be worth it in the long run.
I tried reading through all of the prior posts, so I apologize if I missed someone already bringing this idea to the table. If horizontal progression or a hybrid of some sort was used, how about gear sets that once wearing the required pieces unlock bonus skills, not just attributes. I haven't really thought this through yet, but the idea seemed interesting and would be happy to hear peoples' thoughts.
Can you elaborate on 1.x's horizontal progression? What were the different events and reward structures?
Unfortunately I came back too late into 1.x to really get to do anything at end game.
1.23 Had Raidgear, but it wasn't necessarily the best gear because you could also try your luck at triple or quadmelding materia ( much more painful than it is now, you lose both item and materia) Both AV and CC dropped Darklight which was the raid option. Relic was actually a difficult and rewarding task. Then also they released the White Ravens which were nice but then got nerfed in 2.0 (It had a very low regen tick on it)
So horizontal in the sense that crafting was actually useful for gearing up unless I missed something.
Considering its going to be clique-y airship stuff and gold saucer stuff that I'm not interested in, no, I don't feel it'll be worth it.
But that's just me. My FC has its airship crew. They'll be the ones doing the exploration stuff as well. Not getting excited over something I won't be doing anyway.

While I agree that a lot of players won't run old stuff as much, and that many players will just run the fastest/least annoying dungeon to get their tomes (I see this every time the week resets and I spam roulette and it's fractal every time for the most part). I wouldn't mind having old dungeons be level synched up to your level it would give the game more options. I know I would run those dungeons even if I had to wait longer than necessary
Off the top of my head I would run Tam Tara HM, Lost City, Pharos Sirius, Qarn HM, Aery, Vault.
Since when having more options hurt anyone? You can still run the same stuff you want to run, but let others run stuff that they enjoy being in. It would be an easy fix too just scale the hp and damage of the mobs and bosses.
Rayne, wow does that and it was neat the first time through, but kinda lame after.
And they're like, once a month event weekends.

Why is this thread not flagged with a crown for the devs to peep into but a thread about how cool the soundtrack is and getting a fat cash plush toy is? Arent we all discussing stuff here to help improve the game?![]()
A crown only means that someone from SE posted in it. They may be watching this thread, but because of various reasons want to avoid making comments.
He's talking about zones like this:
http://eq2.zam.com/db/zone.html?eq2z...c7ad543df94021
Whole zone is a dungeon, with multiple groups in it. All bosses "can" spawn, but often when the boss group or mob spawned its a placeholder instead(you can tell, like instead of a named it'll say "a Sathirian Priest" or whatever).
Except most of those these days are full of people leveled down with the chronomage pulling full rooms at a time grinding AA or power leveling alts.
