leveling past 50 without storyline done

After purchasing Heavensward, do you immidiatly get exp as lvl 50? Or is there a quest you need to do before being able to gain exp? I know they added quests for all jobs but you can only unlock them by completing "Before the Dawn" quest. I'm faaaaaaaaaaaaar from this point, just wondering if I buy HW - can I get exp while on my way to get access to Ishengard?

Your level cap changes from 50 to 60 as soon as Heavensward is registered to your account. It's the actual content (regions, quests, etc) of HW that's only accessible after completing the ARR story. So yes, you would be able to level past 50 without quest requirements.

Usually you hit 51 maybe even 52 even if you just gring through story till you complete 2.55... atleast thats what I seen from people around.

If you just grind story and don't do any roulettes you will be about 10% shy of 51, if you do roulettes every day in the time it takes to go through all the story you can be much higher, I had a friend who was 54 when he finally got to ishgard.

just got done doing this. i got 50 with a class and moved to another without doing any of the patch quests. bought HW and started in, i got 51.5 in level by the time i got to the end of patch 2.55
